The event was publicly framed as a civic celebration, and used in practice as a platform for coordinated opposition to the now-passed “protest bubble” by-law. Progress Toronto routinely adopts tactics from protest groups while providing political legitimacy and access to decision-makers. Some protesters appear to benefit from political cover as they engage in disruptive or unlawful activity. Protest endeavours include encampments on university campuses, rail blockades, violent demonstrations outside schools and places of worship, business disruptions, repeated intersection takeovers, acts of public vandalism, swarming police cruisers, disrupting family-oriented events featuring elected officials, staging takeovers at Union Station, and occupying a building on Parliament Hill. These demonstrations come with enormous policing costs, tying up public resources and requiring sustained law enforcement presence. While the event claimed to be rooted in nonviolence, much of the rhetoric told a different story. Serbian prosecutors have opened an investigation claiming that students planned to simulate the use of a “sonic cannon” during the huge Belgrade protest of 15 March 2025. This is outrageous: instead of identifying who ordered and used that banned acoustic weapon, the authorities are now targeting its victims. The videos and testimonies show that something very real happened: peaceful students and citizens were suddenly thrown into panic during a silent tribute, with many reporting nausea, dizziness and headaches. That weapon did not fall from the sky. Someone used it, and someone covered it up. Vučić and those responsible bear a grave political and moral responsibility. A system that still has no real accountability for the Novi Sad canopy collapse, and now investigates the victims of the sonic cannon, shows how rotten Serbia’s institutions remain. Sanctuary City OUT. ICE IN. Defund the CTU. Obama's Press Secretary is asked about reports that during immigration raids, ICE agents were storming into homes, going room to room looking for illegals, and making children tremble with fear. I thought only fascist Presidents do that sort of thing. Why was the press so civil? Why weren't they crying or at least calling Obama a nazi? How come nobody was shaving their head in protest? Surely there were a bunch of angry white liberal wine moms outside the building screaming at the top of their lungs, right? Always keep in mind how fake and performative the outrage is.
