I’m starting to think St. Paul was onto something… 1 Timothy 2:12-14 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.

For this reason, Catholic, Orthodox, and the vast majority of Protestant theologians understand the Father to be incorporeal: He is not composed of matter, has no biological body, and is not spatially limited like a human being. Nevertheless, he is referred to as a father and not as a mother. Whether and how one chooses to imagine this is up to each individual, if one even wants to do so at all. But he is certainly not a mother or a woman.

I certainly take issue with her office, but I think her takeaway was valid. God is not a man (save the God/Man Jesus). Metaphors do fall short, and finite cannot comprehend the infinite.

This is Protestantism's main problem: They have no solid ground they can use to refute her. Every denomination is an ultimate authority unto itself, so her interpretation is just as valid as everyone else's.

If you limited assessment to only what she said (rather than what she likely has in reserve), it’s pretty mundane. Of course God is not a man. He is not a physical being of a certain sex. He is, though, _masculine_ as exemplar

I'm Catholic, and for the most part, I agree what she is saying. God exists outside gender. We call him Father because he fulfills the traditional role of a Father. This IS the catechesis of the Catholic Church §370: “He is neither man nor woman. God is pure spirit." Look it up.

Not sure what she actually said wrong. God is beyond language and the best we can do are use symbols that give us a glimpse of God’s nature.

This is Gnosticism - the false idea that God is unknowable and therefore can be reimagined by the cultural elite. This is a case of the blind leading the blind. The problem is that the modern Roman Catholics are no better. Their own traditionalists are being stamped out by their Pope. I can find plenty of Roman Catholic teachers - including among the clergy - as wrongheaded as this Protestant.
