The destruction caused by #AssamFloods is of an unimaginable scale. Over 9 lakh people across 1,800+ villages in 25 districts have been impacted by this calamity. We have lost 41 precious lives till date and thousands of livestock has been washed away. Cloudbursts upstream, coupled with localised heavy rainfall, 436% above normal, have led to flooding in villages that have not seen such devastation in recent history. We are responding with the full strength of a whole-of-government approach. 1️⃣All agencies, from the Indian Air Force and the NDRF to our State machinery, are working round the clock, carrying out rescue and evacuation operations by air and boat. 2️⃣We have set up over 148 relief camps, where close to 30,000 people are currently taking shelter. 3️⃣Our teams are reaching as many affected families as possible with food, drinking water and other essential supplies. In the worst-affected districts alone, over 3,00,000 kg of rice and other essential relief materials have already been delivered, with more on the way. 4️⃣We are working closely with various departments and the Government of India to prepare a comprehensive long-term rehabilitation package for every affected family. 5️⃣ Last but not the least, once the immediate crisis subsides, we will begin a structured dialogue with neighbouring States to establish a stronger coordination mechanism that can better protect our people from the impact of upstream cloudbursts and similar calamities in the future. At this moment, our peaceful sit-in in Quetta, Balochistan, is facing a brutal and unjustified crackdown by state security forces. Dozens of our companions, including women, have been arrested, and their whereabouts remain unknown. The security forces are resorting to indiscriminate firing and heavy tear gas shelling, creating a suffocating atmosphere that has severely affected the health of many peaceful protesters, including elderly individuals and children present at the demonstration. Additionally, a complete communication blackout has been imposed in Quetta, with mobile networks and internet access deliberately cut off to prevent information from reaching the outside world. Security forces have also launched raids in nearby areas, arbitrarily arresting more activists and intimidating families. This violent suppression of peaceful dissent is a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. I urge all advocates of justice, human rights organizations, and the international community to take immediate notice of this brutality and hold the responsible authorities accountable. #StopBalochGenocide

Situation in Northern Kurdistan (Turkey) is spiralling out of control. Protestors have set up barricades in some neighbourhoods and are clashing with Turkish security forces. Protestors are using fireworks, stones and Molotov cocktails to defend themselves against the Turkish security forces. The protests which have turned into riots have seen a surge of more militant groups and individuals joining the riots such as the HBDH and MAK Some reports claim that the Turkish security have began to use live bullets; until now they mainly relied on rubber bullets and water cannons. During the day Turkish security forces run targeted arrest operations with undercover officers. The situation is very reminiscent of the early stages of scenes we have witnessed from 2014-2016 Dead or wounded individuals on either side could have devastating effects on the level of escalation. RE MAK: The MAK has been active since November 2023, carrying out attacks and other activities on a regular basis. They are a decentralised movement of individuals working together for the cause of liberating Kurdistan. As of now: any claim of them being in coordination with other militant groups such as the TAK, YDGH (though both formerly don’t exist anymore) or the Kurdish workers party (PKK) military wing HPG is wrong. For better understanding: anyone who is currently protesting against the Turkish regime could in theory take a video of his actions and send it to the MAK; that’d make you a member of the MAK (it’s more of a movement than a group) RE footage on social media: Please be aware; groups and individuals with different motives are mixing in footage from 2015/16 to create a narrative of protestors being overly violent, armed and under the command of other factions.

🛑Indian government has been working hard against Sikhs in the West who stay true to their identity. These columns commenced their onward journey to #Wayanad at 6:45 AM today, with even an Army Officer on leave volunteering to join the mission. Engineer Task Force from the Madras Engineer Group and Centre arrived on-site at 02:00 AM. A class 24, 170 Ft bridge is planned to be erected at Chooralmala. Reconnaissance at Meppadi-Chooralmala Road underway. Essential bridging assets to include three sets of Bailey Bridges, JCBs and TATRA trucks, are en route to #Wayanad and likely to reach by 02:00 PM Furthermore, bridging assets from Delhi, along with three sniffer dogs, have been airlifted by the Indian Air Force Aircraft C 130 and are expected to reach #Kannur shortly, with subsequent road movement to Wayanad being coordinated with civil administration.
