It’s a lit-up potato gun shooting golf balls. He’s lying because in the video he admits it’s a hydrogen and oxygen cannon (oxyhydrogen mix). Hydrogen needs an oxidizer to combust or explode—pure protium does not magically do either in vacuum or anywhere else. The “no oxidizer needed” claim is pure fiction to hype a backyard combustion launcher as revolutionary moon tech. Escape velocity is about 11km/s. That speed would shred any golfball. lol… His potato gun MAYBE hits 100 METERS PER SECOND. Not to mention that he’d need a second boost if he wants to put anything into orbit. It’s physics.

I also tried to invent a light gas gun once. You will run into the same issues as me. Ablation is your biggest issue. The projectile will melt into plasma without ridiculous heavy shielding, and the mass needed for a practical projectile will exceed the amount of force you can generate to counter drag, and gravitational pull.

A hydrogen explosion still needs a oxidizer. In this case its just oxygen. Electrolysis does split water into oxygen and hydrogen ,but your description is technically wrong.

So, you’re off on a few core concepts. ‘Going to space’ isn’t a matter of throwing a ball straight up into the air. Unless you can accelerate said ball to 25k mph so it escapes earth’s gravitational sphere and enters a solar orbit, it’s coming right back down. Even if you angle your trajectory and can achieve high enough instantaneous acceleration to retain the required velocity after atmospheric drag has slowed it on its much longer atmospheric trajectory, your ball is still suborbital. You need a second stage to raise your periapsis and achieve LEO. So now you need to launch another potato gun that can survive the instantaneous acceleration, the frictional heating during its atmospheric ascent, and then reorient itself to fire the projectile you want in orbit prograde, but on a new, orbital trajectory. Now this raises a new problem, because that second stage potato cannon has to be of significant enough mass to minimize its reaction to the momentum exchange between it and the final payload. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The energy of the explosion is exerting equal force on the potato gun, pushing it in the opposite direction you want the projectile to go, and an equal and opposite force on the projectile. So I rate this project as bogus as the guy claiming he was building blimps to go to space. Space isn’t orbit and not enough people understand this fact.

Absolutely love the idea & enthusiasm. We need MORE of this mentality. Lots more. Question regarding material delivery. I’m no physics guy. At all. But I do love cool shit. This definitely counts. But what about the payload? Upon fire, wouldn’t it get compressed/reach a breaking point/liquify/become unidentifiable with enough thrust, pressure, or inertia behind it? I’d assume even a golf ball has a limit considering a hydraulic press can smash it flat. Water would only maintain deliver ability depending upon the strength of the delivery vessel itself I’d surmise. Perhaps I’m missing something regarding the vacuum equilibrium of contents at launch? It does seem as if it would make a hell of a launcher for rockets, mortars, drones, rods of god, etc for increased speed & distance for kinetic projectiles though. Again, I am even < physics novice so forgive my lack of accurate terminology. Amazing work though.

Your muzzle velocity is all that matters. Once the projectile leaves the barrel it begins to rapidly decelerate. It doesn’t matter how much fuel you mix, it’s all just a wasted expanding flame that comes after the ball. It’s too short. Make the barrel 10x longer for more velocity
