@GodPenuel "Can I go to SARS and give you some of these punchlines" Man, Verb is too goated 😂🔥

@GodPenuel @emteerecords Emtee was right, bars and metaphors don't pay bills. Hits do, they're a multiplier effect.

@GodPenuel Exactly why Rihanna left music and focused on business. Hence now she's able to focus on making kids and being present

@GodPenuel I get him. But to answer where were you? I was there. I was 15. Bought my first CD album from Musica. The Book of ProVerb. Anyway, man gotta do…

@GodPenuel I'm presently reading a book called Choke Capitalism, and it is safe to say that creatives will still die poor. What Spotify is doing to artists is pure criminal. Exceptions make it look like it's possible to live off music.

@GodPenuel 3 of my fav 5 SA rappers: Zubz, Stogie, Proverb. If skills sold truth be told...... The peak of quality SA hip hop did not coincide with sales. Besides Skwatta Kamp and Pitch Black Afro, the rest were struggling. Mr Selwyn, HHP, Prokid produced classics in vernac, but sales!

@GodPenuel Bro had a calling and he took it with both hands. It was a nice exit path

@GodPenuel I remember Dj sbu saying "asibadingi la bantu " and then he went back to la bantu put his brand to their store. Went back to radio to earn monthly salary. So if you going to listen to people. You will be left in no man's place

@GodPenuel He’s always been very sensible

@GodPenuel This guys make music for themselves and complain when no one is consuming their music . A fraction of people in SA listen to that kid of hip hop. Ase mo states mo. The problem is not music ,but the kind of music you make. Cassper with grade 9 understands what people want

@GodPenuel I feel like people don't understand that there's no money in music in Mzansi. A person who works at moral job, has a far better livelihood than most recording artists.

@GodPenuel i was there i paid to get his albums, in fact he is and hhp are the only two hiphop albums i have ever bought

@GodPenuel I have been doing music for 26 years ...I made no money from it..I still love it to death but if I wasn't working I would have starved to death...I wouldn't have roof on my head...my kids would suffer more...I think only few musicians are lucky to be that supper successful.

@GodPenuel Can i go to the bank and kick it off the dome? 😂

@GodPenuel For kids who are coming from a poor background music is their only hope that can give them a breakthrough in life, Proverb is not from a poor background so hence he easily left music without hesitation

@GodPenuel No, no, no! Proverb's music wasn't appealing to the mass & that's okay. Studying the market is very important. Cassper is more relevant than Verb but it doesn't mean he's better than him lyrical. People who listen to music lyrically are few, honestly. Check Shebeshxt!!

@GodPenuel Man we miss his music. 😭

@GodPenuel Amu said " You may spit metaphors, but bills are straight talk"

@GodPenuel Good point, but Verbs in ability to bring a business model to his then skill of rapping should not be seen as wisdom, smart or anything else. He simply failed as an entrepreneur since hip hop is 100 entreorenship. Izwa la #K1 eKaslami #SpyLand baba. This is a pro doing it.

@GodPenuel Back then, rappers that were rapping in English were not big. People wanted to hear Skwatta, Pitch Black, PRO, Tuks... The label Proverb was signed to had mostly English rappers and the most known act was H20 coz they were rapping in vernac.

@GodPenuel This was a real conversation 😭”can I go to SARS and give you some of these punchlines “

@GodPenuel No shade to Proverb, but he was not exactly a multiplatinum selling rapper . English rappers always struggle to break commercially in S.A Hip-Hop. Even A.K.A relied heavily on vernac features .

@GodPenuel If it wasn't for hip hop we wouldn't know proverb, hip hop opened some doors for him. He turned his back on the game 😂

@GodPenuel ubhuti omdala ngiyamuzwa mina, sengicela ayichaze kahle lento kwi @tswyza_wyza Show, bese ephumula ke, just 1 laaaaaast time hle 🙏🏾😮💨

@GodPenuel Hip Hop made a lane for him beyond money. He is enjoying the fruits of that right now.. if it wasn’t for the punchlines and metaphors, I wonder if this discussion, the experience and the opportunities that came with it would’ve happened. I doubt he prioritised money back then.

@GodPenuel No. share this with investors to put more money in this South African Hip Hop thing. This kids are dope. Imagine a young proverb in this day and age, prolly win a Grammy

@GodPenuel In our country, Cassper Nyovest, KO le bo Shebeshxt are an exception. Most artists will only make it high up enough to earn a decent living for the next coming five years from the time they blew up. When the gigs dry up, their Albums won't do well enough to sustain them for life.

@GodPenuel 100k tuition fees Wow

@GodPenuel Recently reconnected with an old friend/colleague who was sleeping with this guy's wife. That's all I know about him, that I had a friend who was chowing his wife. I don't know any of his songs/poems. Maybe he was just not good enough. I don't think R100k school guarantees ROI

@GodPenuel Lets not discourage creatives! This is very subjective and there are those making it in the industry.

@GodPenuel To be fair hip-hop may have given him rubbish cheques but it was definitely to the spring board to better things pro paid his dues it's good to see him flourish mandem is still alive a lot of his peers arent

@GodPenuel so people cant see that ALL THE OTHER DOORS GOT opened because of his Hip Hop Career??? Bro Idols and Brands came at him because of HIP HOP !!! COME ON!!!!

@GodPenuel Music is dog eat dog biznes

@GodPenuel Sjava made it after countless failed seasons. He made the right choice for himself and his family. Fun fact he's still getting money from his old music.

@GodPenuel Atelast they'll know its possible to make it on life the same way Proverb did. We know him through music. He's got a career through music in the muscle industry. There's many ways to make money in the music industry and He's one of the best examples
