🚨🇺🇸 PROVIDENCE MAYOR: SCHOOLS STAYING OPEN WITH POLICE COVERAGE AS MANHUNT FOR BROWN SHOOTER CONTINUES Providence Mayor Brett Smiley addressed parents Monday as the city balances normalcy with an active manhunt for the Brown University shooter: "We did have school here in Providence. I'm glad we had school today.... We'll have school tomorrow. This is the last week of the semester, and it's important for kids to be in school. We understand that there are probably difficult conversations happening at the kitchen table right now, but if you're comfortable, you should send your kid to school." Smiley said Providence Public Schools have police coverage at drop-off and pick-up times. He spent the morning visiting schools in the neighborhood: "Parents certainly were glad to see an officer helping out." The shooter who killed 2 and wounded 9 at Brown University Saturday remains at large. Police have released new footage of a person of interest dressed in black, captured hours before the attack. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward. Brown has canceled remaining fall semester classes, but Providence public schools are pushing through.
