Thomas Jefferson was responsible for the largest expansion of slavery in history. After the collapse of the Virginia tobacco industry, Virginia slaveholders turned to slave trading as their primary source of revenue. But Virginia slave prices were being undercut by Carolina rice farmers with slave imports from Africa's rice coast (Sierra Leone). Jefferson pushed for a ban on the importation of slaves from Africa, not out of altruism, but to protect the burgeoning slave trading industry in his home state of Virginia. Jefferson himself was a Virginia slave trader. After the ban on the importation of slaves from Africa went into effect in 1807, Virginia became the primary supplier of slaves for the Carolina rice farms & the deep South cotton fields. This led to an explosion of slave breeding in Virginia. Throughout the course of slavery, Virginia would go on to breed & sell more slaves than any single African slave empire in the Transatlantic slave trade era. For some perspective, the infamous West African Kingdom of Dahomey at its peak in the mid 19th century sold an estimated 10 thousand slaves a year to Europeans. The city of Richmond, Virginia, exceeded that total in a single month, selling 10 thousand slaves a month to the Deep South Jefferson once boasted, "I consider a woman who brings a child every two years as more profitable than the best man of the farm. What she produces is an addition to capital, while his labors disappear in mere consumption." Jefferson also acquired the Louisiana territories from France and oversaw the westward expansion of slavery. According to Jefferson, neglecting to expand slavery would be "an act of suicide on themselves, and of treason against the hopes of the world."

Can Christians legitimately reinterpret biblical prohibitions based on a distinction between contemporary and ancient forms of a prohibited practice? When it comes to same-sex relationships, many instinctively say no. But in fact, Christians have done so in the past on the issue of usury. Although usury today has broadly been redefined to mean charging excessive interest on loans, in the Bible and throughout most of church history, it meant charging any interest at all on a loan. Condemned categorically in Psalm 15:5 and as an "abomination" warranting the death penalty in Ezekiel 18:13, church fathers declared usury a sin against nature that jeopardized the eternal salvation of anyone who practiced it. The medieval church went so far as to declare that any Christian who even doubted the inherent sinfulness of usury should be "punished as a heretic." But in the 16th century, John Calvin argued for a reinterpretation of the biblical prohibitions of interest. Their original purpose, he said, had been to prevent the rich from exploiting the poor. But in the commercial economies of his day, lending at moderate interest to the wealthy could advance the common good. Calvin agreed that the Bible's broad prohibition of usury had been "apt" in the ancient world. But, he said, "our situation is quite different. For that reason, I am unwilling to condemn it, so long as it is practiced with equity and charity." Today, while Christians rightly continue to oppose exploitative forms of interest, hardly any Christians condemn interest outright. No denominations are splintering over it, nor are people being accused of heresy because of it. Calvin's hermeneutic is not new, nor is it inherently controversial. The question is simply whether we are willing to apply his basic interpretive principle to the topic of same-sex relationships given the vast cultural differences that exist between ancient same-sex practices and modern same-sex marriages. As I argue in this recent talk about the parallels between usury and same-sex relationships, we have a strong case for doing so.

How extensive is human trafficking in Ukraine? It is alleged that Ukrainian security forces, funded by U.S. taxpayers, operate a $34 billion CHILD-SELLING trafficking racket. The OSCE and the US State Department pointed out in 2020 the extent of modern-day slave trafficking in Ukraine. In the 2010s, the sexual abuse of women was the predominant form of slavery in Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian women were forced into prostitution and trafficked to countries in the European Union, particularly the Baltic states, Poland and the Czech Republic, where they were kept in sexual slavery. The International Organization for Migration estimates that at least 300,000 people fell victim to the slave trade in Ukraine between 1991 and 2021.

May Allah accept his martyrdom. ☑️ I want to get started by thanking the Turkish Communications Directorate who brought us together to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Turkish-Somali relations. ☑️ We may be celebrating the 60th year of our modern diplomatic relations, but as we all very well know, Turkish-Somali relations are based on a much more deep rooted history than that. ☑️ Our association isn't based on just 60 years, but anchored in 600 years of brotherly jurisprudence. ☑️ Throughout history, we Somalis viewed the Turks as our real friends who stood by us and gave a helping hand during our hardest times. ☑️ After a long and arduous journey, when we declared our independence on 1 July 1960, our Turkish friends were also beside us among the first nations to recognize Somalia. ☑️ During the years of the Cold War, our diplomatic relations continued but stayed in formal frameworks and couldn't reach their full potential. ☑️ Global circumstances were narrow, distances were long, capabilities were limited, but the historical ties between us were never weakened.

Over 1,064,746 election-related files were deleted out of 9,571 directories found on the "D drive" from the EMS in the Maricopa County, Arizona 2020 Election. The EMS, or Election Management System server also contained a "C Drive," with 865 directories, with 85,673 election-related files deleted. Some of the deleted EMS server files were .dvd files, which were the results of the election totals off of each tabulating device, there were also S logs, scanned ballot images, etc. Large amounts of files were also deleted on 3 of Maricopa County's high-capacity scanners. High Pro Scanner 1: 59,387 election data files deleted out of 304 directories. High Pro Scanner 3: 196,463 election data files deleted out of 1,061 directories. Log entries were also found to be overwritten, which is also illegal because of the standard 22-month federal mandate to preserve ALL original records. An individual executed a script, foreign to the EMS, on 2/11/2021, 462 log entries were found overwritten by that same script, which was ran multiple times. on 3/3/2021, 37,686 log entries were overwritten by this same script. On 3/12/2021, the day before the system was handed over for the audit, 330 log entries were overwritten by that same script. An specific EMS admin account was identified as the culprit. This is why assigning a name to each user is important. The person was identified through time stamps from the logins and compared to security footage of the system it was performed on. Charges MUST be brought to all involved. We must purge our election precincts and official positions of bad actors.
