Tired of your cringy 2004 Gmail username? Google now lets you update it easily! Here's how (on mobile): Go to → Personal info → Email → Google Account email If you see "Change Google Account email", you're eligible Enter a new available username Tap Change email → Confirm Your old username stays as an alias — sign in with both, no data lost!

This is fantastic but I would like there to be some sort of way to safely free inactive usernames because every time I type in a username I want I always get recommended something I will not be able to remember. I will be very happy if there was a sort of way to let this happen.
