This is the curse of Kenya. I know, first hand, that more than 90% of the white teachers in international schools in Kenya are NOT qualified to teach the subjects they teach, they are there for their colour to fool the rich African parents who are suffering from inferiority complex into paying millions (of Kenyan Shillings) per term for the the same education they themselves got for a pittance. I see politicians, banking tycoons, insurance tycoons etc cowering and looking embarrassingly sheepish as they get progress reports from the white teachers of their children, looking up to them as though they are in the presence of Jesus himself... then they walk arrogantly to us, the African teachers who do the actual work and introduce themselves and listen nonchalantly to whatever we have to say. They then part with their millions in fees, hundreds of thousands for a trip to London for their children and stand in small groups praising the school because it has very many white teachers. In parliament, they block capitation (budget allocation) for public schools. Neocolonialism 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

Alberta is stepping up for teachers and students. Our offer adds 3,000 new teachers in the classrooms and puts a 12 percent salary increase on the table, giving about 95 percent of teachers more pay. A typical Alberta teacher would lead western Canada in regards to salary. We have also committed $1 billion for boards to hire more teachers or education assistants to reduce class sizes, plus an $8.6 billion school build program to add the space families need. This is a generous, ready to deliver plan that puts help into classrooms now. We invite the ATA to work with us so students, parents, and teachers see these benefits this year.

I am actually disgusted by this. I’ve had so many teachers that changed my life and put me in the right path, without them I don’t want to think about where I would be. These teachers are sharing how much money they have in their accounts on the par day. In a society where our teachers are guiding the minds of the future, the people who will be helping us when we are later in life. I don’t think they are appreciated enough nor is the compensation package up to par. It perplexes me how they they have to spend a crazy amount of money for their education, only to struggle to get by with a smile while still being generous enough to pay for the items our children need without being reimbursed for much of it. I think it’s time we create a change, I don’t think it’s fair we expect so much of them and they give so much to us only to relieve so little. I know people are going to argue with me and say well they chose to do it so if they aren’t happy with the pay, they can get another job. While that’s true, we would be in bad shape however if they ever chose to do that. Who would be teaching our kids and preparing them for the future. I think we focus too much on things that aren’t and shouldn’t be our priority while neglecting and overlooking a major issue right below our noses. Their jobs are important and our kids would fail without them so why are we treating them like they aren’t important? It’s because it’s easy for us to think of them as our babysitters for half the day. We treat them like Nannie’s who only watch our kids while we go to work and do things we enjoy. Maybe it’s time we revisit our roles in helping them achieve our goals.

Dear nyesom wike I heard you gave your son a land worth over 2billion dollars that is why I came back to your office with these public schools children that have been out of school for close to 3months on reaching the gate of FCTA we met an ongoing protest held by STAFF OF FCDA…..environmental department are also being owed salaries for over 6 months to crown it up they lied to them about the increase of the minimum wage,civil defense officers are also crying and guess what rumors have it that the police are also being owed allowances I ask again what is the WORK OF NYESOM WIKE IN ABUJA, you left the development and welfare of our professionals and used all your time and money to be fighting for power in rivers state,Abuja police officers are crying,at this point what do we do, PLEASE WE WANT OUR TEACHERS PAID AND OUR KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL

Teachers union NEA Rhode Island posted a video of kids' video messages to their middle school music teacher. One kid said, "I can talk to you about anything." Another said, "I love you." Then the teacher cries. Completely inappropriate. Kids need healthy, professional boundaries w teachers. Kids should NOT talk to teachers about "anything." Kids should NOT tell teachers, "I love you." Teachers are not kids' family, friend, or romantic partner. Cordiality, mutual respect, and esteem are what constitute professional relationships - not inappropriately emotional video tributes that blur the boundaries of teacher/student relationships. This same professional boundary is in the workplace and in other professional relationships they will form as adults. But the teachers union NEARI wants to cross this boundary to compensate for bad academic outcomes. This video is meant to emotionally manipulate adults into believing that the best public school teachers fulfill emotional needs of students to distract from the union's failure to meet academic needs of kids. These emotional tributes are inappropriate, unprofessional, and can lead to sexual misconduct or other grooming behaviors. Obviously I'm not alleging that happened here - but these emotional student tributes of "I love you" and "I can talk to you about anything" teach wrong boundaries.

A father found out that his son's middle school, Cascade Middle School in Seattle (part of Highline Schools), brought him to an anti-ICE protest in middle of the school day. His son's teacher left the classroom with all the other students, leaving him alone in the classroom. He didn't want to be alone and therefore went along. The teachers took the kids on a walk through White Center, Washington for the protest. Many areas there aren't particularly safe. Per the father, the school alleged that they gave the kids options if they wanted to go or not. They also claimed that it was the kids' choice to protest and that the teachers were just joining. Per the school's principal, both teachers and school security were in attendance. This violates Washington State law 28A.605.010, which prohibits children from being removed from school grounds during school hours without permission from the children's parents or legal guardian.

This teacher is one sick day away from being homeless. Her apartment is nearly empty, her refrigerator barely has anything in it at all, she has a car that works when it wants to, so where does all her money go to? The answer is she feels it’s necessary to make sacrifices so that her kids can have everything they need to be excited and engaged about learning. We always hear about how important their jobs are since they are teaching our kids and raising them in for us in many other ways. Since school funding can be tight, instead of teachers having to pay for everything to teach our kids, would it be appropriate or acceptable if at the beginning of the year the parents are charged a small materials fee for each child so teachers don’t have to spend their own money?

There are always so many negative comments about teachers. Let me show you a small glimpse into the heart of a teacher. This gentleman has a complete breakfast set up for his kids that come in hungry each morning. Bought and paid for out of his own pocket! He also has lunch items and snacks if needed. This isn’t’t in our job description, but it is written on our hearts. You have no idea how many times we feed our students because we see the need. Not for accolades, but simply because our students deserved to be fed. While I’m at it, let me also say that many teachers clear cafeteria debt for students and we buy t-shirts and sweatshirts from the school for our kids. Again, not for accolades, just because we saw those who couldn’t afford it. We never make a spectacle out of giving them the school merchandise, it just appears on their desk one morning.

Earlier today I posted about the mom who said teaching her kids right from wrong, behavior, reading, and math “isn’t her job — that’s what I pay the teachers for.” Well… here’s where that attitude leads. Maryland school districts are now requiring teachers to potty-train toddlers as “Pre-K for All” expands. The woman in this video nails it: At what point do we just hand our kids over and say “Here, teachers — raise them for us”? Schools already do food assistance, clothing, mental health counseling, dental programs, health programs… and now diapering and toilet training? This isn’t “support.” It’s the state quietly becoming the parent while actual parents check out. And the legal questions are real — who’s watching the rest of the class while one teacher is in the bathroom with a toddler? Two adults present for every change? Where does that staff come from? This is the end result of treating schools like full-time daycare and surrogate parents. Parents: Potty train your own toddlers. Teach them basic life skills at home. Schools exist to educate, not raise your children. The more we outsource, the more the government steps in. This cycle has to stop.

Talk about hidden in plain sight! I can’t believe I never saw the video to this song! Pink Floyd sang about the atrocities teachers are doing to children. Here’s some lyrics from the song.- 👇🏽👇🏽 “We don't need no education We don't need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teacher, leave them kids alone” Another verse in the song they were talking about medicating children! Now the video itself is very disturbing. It looks like they are grinding and children up and to meet. So were they eluding to cannibalism in this video? I can’t believe it’s been right in front of our basis the whole time. Do you think they’ve been telling us the whole time or was this video made just for entertainment purposes? Either way it’s pretty damn creepy!

Talk about hidden in plain sight! I can’t believe I never saw the video to this song! Pink Floyd sang about the atrocities teachers are doing to children. Here’s some lyrics from the song.- 👇🏽👇🏽 “We don't need no education We don't need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teacher, leave them kids alone” Another verse in the song they were talking about medicating children! Now the video itself is very disturbing. It looks like they are grinding and children up and to meet. So were they eluding to cannibalism in this video? I can’t believe it’s been right in front of our basis the whole time. Do you think they’ve been telling us the whole time or was this video made just for entertainment purposes? Either way it’s pretty damn creepy!

🚨 Heads up, Utah — this is not okay. 🚨 The UEA is creating an “Equity Ambassador” program for teachers to “advance racial and social justice work in public schools.” They are pushing to lead "systemic change" on how and what our kids are being taught. Our children deserve classrooms devoted to learning — math, science, reading, writing, history, etc. — not political indoctrination. And this is just part of a larger national issue. As a father of an educator, I know this is not who our teachers are, so why are we letting the union take control? ❗️Let me be blunt: Schools are for education, not agendas. If you feel the same, share this post. Ask your district and school board: 1. Why is the UEA trying to advance racial and social justice work in public schools? 2. And how will that affect what our children are taught? Our kids deserve a real education. Let’s defend that.💪

This American needs to lead the Department of Education “This is my audition to become the head of the US Department of Education - My first act of office will be immediately abolishing the No Child Left Behind Act. Yes, we will be leaving children behind. If they fail a class, they will have to repeat it - My second act is one that I'm very passionate about. We will be bringing zeros back. If you don't know, in many schools in the US right now, students receive 40% or 50% if they do zero work, if they do not complete an assignment. And my school included, and many other schools, are not going to be allowed to give a student a 50% if they do not turn in any work. They will have to receive a zero. Likewise, there will be no completion grades, If you just attempt an assignment, that doesn't mean you get a 55%. Like, if you get a 1 out of 10, you earned a 10% on that assignment, and that's okay. Sometimes failing happens, and we don't need to just inflate the grades just for fun. Grades will reflect students' actual performance and understanding of the content - The third one I'm very excited for as well. Teacher evaluations will take place once a year and teachers will be observed by another current teacher from a different school. Teachers would volunteer to be evaluators. They would get a sub for the day, no questions asked, and then they would evaluate objectively. That way the person evaluating you does not know you and does not have any personal bias towards you. Hopefully. - The fourth one, I think this should be common sense, but I hear that it happens all the time at some schools. Never at mine. But teachers shouldn't be expected to work for free. I hear elementary teachers are doing these before and after work things that they aren't getting paid for, like lunch duty or recess duty or pickup duty, whatever it is. The school needs those things covered. People can volunteer for it, and then they have to get paid for it. They can't force you to cover other people's classes for free. They have to pay you extra if they're gonna take away your lunch or your prep or whatever time that is supposed to be yours and then force you to do something without getting paid. There will be no more voluntelling. Hire this woman. The most important thing we need to do is hold students back and force them to learn the work. No more dumbing down out standards

We teach our students entrepreneurship from a young age. This is an annual flea market where students bring their used toys, books and anything they don’t want to school to sell to their fellow schoolmates and even teachers. Before the market starts, we teach them how to advertise, price, negotiate and give change. This way, they can learn the art of buying and selling, get rid of things they don’t want and have fun. These are practical skills and knowledge that we should also give our children in Nigeria. Not all of them, but some of them will find their calling in business and can start at a young age. Our teachers have an instrumental role to play in teaching them, encouraging them and gaining other skills other than just teaching students what is in text books. The online world now is providing more opportunities to do business, and kids should be in this action. It will sow seeds for our future business ecosystem and add more value to our economy.
