The reason pubs are falling is because fewer people drink in them. They don't meet consumer needs.

We lost 10,400 pubs under the Tories, 2010 - 2024. The worst year in that period was 2017: 1,950 pubs closed on their watch. The second worst year was 2013, and 1,300 closures. Closures were running at historically high rates in the final Tory years. Labour hasn’t arrested that.

6800 pubs closed between 2010 and 2024 or around 500 a year Number of pubs closed since 2024 500 or 250 a year But it’s all down to labour is it🤷‍♂️

There aren’t many more elections left… if we don’t get a government that sorts this out, the country either breaks or triggers into civil war. I think the only reason it hasn’t is people hope there’s still a chance.

Much of what Adam Brooks say here is rubbish. Tax on pub drinks has always been high. 6 pubs a week were closing in the last Conservative govt. People today no longer spend so much time in pubs. Traditions change.

The upcoming elections in England are council elections that have no relevance to pub closures. The reality may be closer to home in that the pub culture is indeed shri king due to people simply not choosing to go out to pubs.
