California: During the most critical part of wildfire operations on the Bain Fire in Riverside County this afternoon, air operations were shut down due to a civilian drone flying over the fire. (Audio attached) This was at a time that structures were under threat, as well as lives of both civilians and firefighters. They had multiple tankers working the fire on a “no divert” for life safety, and some idiot flew their drone over the fire likely hindering protection of both life and property. The suspect was detained and taken into custody. (Audio attached) It’s impressive to hear just how fast this operation took place, and the professionalism involved. Last year, California had 186 drone incursions over fires, over 75% of those led to the halting of, or delaying of aviation operations over active wildfires. It’s a major problem. One punctured through the wing of a scooper. The number was so high, they excluded it from national numbers so it wouldn’t skew the annual trend graph. If you are a long time listener of the show, or a reader of my articles, you know what I think should be done to these drone flyers. The fire is now nearing 1,000 acres, zero percent contained, is still active, and they are evacuating an animal shelter that is threatened.

Strike on the infrastructure of Dnepropetrovsk International Airport On September 7, 2025, at around 04:30, Russian units carried out precision strikes using Iskander-M missile systems and Geran-2 drones against the territory of Dnepropetrovsk International Airport. The Dallas Police Department’s new Drone as First Responder program officially launched today with eight remotely piloted drones based at Dallas Fire-Rescue stations across the City of Dallas. These drones are operated out of the Fusion/Real Time Crime Center and are designed to respond to calls for service in a two-mile radius from their base station. The base locations were selected based on heat maps of calls for service for both police and fire, placing them where they can potentially respond to the greatest number of calls. The pilots will be able to get to the scene quicker than in a squad car and begin to provide real-time intelligence and feedback to officers, as well as reduce the level of response or clear a call entirely if the incident has resolved. If a pilot sees a call in a drone’s response area where aerial intelligence can enhance officer safety, they can deploy a drone to provide critical updates to officers at the scene. Each drone is equipped with a thermal camera to help during nighttime operations, as well as a loudspeaker to make announcements to individuals on the ground. “I challenged our team to find innovative ways to continue improving our response times, and this new drone unit will not only keep officers free to respond to more calls, but provide real time updates as they are responding to calls,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. “Even during our training, our pilots were able to clear three holding calls in an hour with one drone. Over the past few months, our Midnight program has consistently delivered strong results. We're now routinely flying longer, faster & higher as we expand the aircraft’s operational envelope. Recent flights have exceeded 55 miles, more than 30 minutes of flight time, altitudes up to our 10,000-foot service ceiling, and speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour. These missions are providing valuable certification data, while closely mirroring the majority of mission profiles we expect in early urban deployment environments. Our next flight test phase with Midnight will be piloted VTOL, including full transition flights with our type certification intent four-blade aft propellers. Unlike the CTOL envelope that we are now close to completing testing on, the VTOL and transition flight regimes are not new for Midnight, as we have previously completed an extensive flight test campaign with Midnight without a pilot onboard. Our progression from non-piloted VTOL to piloted CTOL to piloted VTOL & CTOL campaigns is optimized for safety and disciplined execution that builds our readiness for commercial operations. Private contractor unveils strange aircraft, takes credit for sky mystery | Shane Galvin, New York Post A private company at a high-powered Army conference demonstrated a unique aircraft at the event — and allegedly took responsibility for setting off last year’s drone and “UFO” pandemonium in New Jersey, a source told The Post.
