🚨 PUBLIC OPINION: Pithapuram Sankranthi celebrations reflects a deeper cultural revival. Once an integral part of the festival, the Haridasu tradition has become increasingly rare over the years. By restoring such fading practices, Pawan Kalyan is reinforcing the importance of preserving cultural heritage alongside celebration. #PawanKalyan #Pithapuram #JanaSenaParty

At the Arab Media Forum, I spoke about the ancient Kingdom of Caucasian Albania and its rich Christian heritage, whose enduring and particularly significant footprint can be seen in Karabakh and other parts of Azerbaijan. I highlighted Azerbaijan’s centuries-old tradition of multiculturalism and religious coexistence, as well as our country’s commitment to protecting, preserving and restoring its rich cultural and religious heritage, irrespective of its origin or faith. I also addressed the extensive destruction, desecration and alteration of Azerbaijan’s religious and cultural heritage during the years of occupation, stressing the importance of safeguarding historical truth and preserving cultural heritage for future generations. The panel I shared with the Foreign Minister of Georgia and Minister of Economy and Tourism of UAE and moderated by CEO of Euronews.

The Olufuko Cultural Festival is rooted in a traditional Aawambo rite of passage marking the transition of young women into adulthood, traditionally preparing them for the responsibilities of adult life and marriage. Today, the festival celebrates this heritage through cultural expression, traditional knowledge, music, dance, food and ceremony. Held in Outapi in Namibia’s Omusati Region, Olufuko brings together communities to preserve and share an important part of Aawambo cultural heritage. The festival offers an opportunity to experience traditions that have been passed down through generations while connecting them with contemporary cultural life. The Aawambo cultural region extends across northern Namibia and parts of southern Angola, making Olufuko part of a broader cross-border heritage shared by communities in both countries.

Tchianda is a traditional music and dance form of the Lunda-Cokwe cultural world in eastern Angola, particularly associated with Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico. It is also performed during Mucanda celebrations, including the community's welcome for boys returning from their initiation period. The dance brings together rhythm, coordinated body movements and traditional dress, including cloths worn around the waist. It is a communal expression of celebration, identity and cultural continuity. In April 2024, Angola officially declared Tchianda National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This recognition matters because preserving a dance means preserving the history, knowledge and cultural identity carried by the people who perform it.

The Khudavang Monastery is one of the important examples of Azerbaijan’s historical and cultural heritage. All religious and cultural monuments in Azerbaijan are protected and restored by the state, which demonstrates Azerbaijan’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy. Unfortunately, during the Armenian occupation, many cultural and religious monuments of Azerbaijan were destroyed, looted, or falsified. The Khudavang Monastery was also subjected to distortion and falsification as part of this vandalism. After the war, Azerbaijan is seriously committed to the restoration of cultural heritage in these territories, and its experience in this field can serve as an example. The restoration and preservation of monuments like Khudavang in their original historical shape are part of this policy.
