🚨 THEY POSTPONED THE SPRAY !! Now it’s time to keep applying pressure and make sure this nasty poison stays out of our waterways in Connecticut for good .. I’m out of my depth on that one.. but if people continue coming together like this, great things can be accomplished. At the end of the day, I’m just a concerned citizen who’s sick of getting poisoned on a regular basis with government approval. Solicitors acting for Samantha Walker-Roberts, a leading supporter of Jess Phillips MP within the Rape Gang Survivors Panel, have written to me demanding that I stop commenting on her public interviews and political statements. Their letter, dated 31 October 2025, was sent just two days after Ms Walker-Roberts appeared again in The Guardian (29 October 2025) promoting her political position on the national grooming-gang inquiry where she demanded an apology from Nigel Farage. Ms Walker-Roberts has voluntarily taken part in multiple national media appearances, including Good Morning Britain, TalkTV, and ITV News, while giving interviews to The Guardian, The Times, and other outlets. She has publicly declared her political stance, religious affiliation, and authorship of a book, all of which firmly establish her as a public figure engaged in shaping national debate. Despite this, her solicitors now suggest that my commentary, which simply analyses her own public statements and the political use of survivor testimony, could constitute “harassment.” In my written response, I make clear that: - I have not contacted Ms Walker-Roberts privately. - My comments are based entirely on material she placed in the public domain. - My work is lawful, factual, and in the public interest. - Attempts to silence me amount to political censorship. I have spent seven years exposing institutional failings in the handling of grooming gangs and helped force the creation of the national inquiry. I will not be silenced by politically motivated legal threats. Both the solicitors’ letter and my full response are being prepared for release publicly in the interests of transparency. In the meantime, listen to this extract where Ms Walker-Roberts reveals her motivations. Is this not in the public interest? It's such an exciting time to be an artist on the internet. We now have the technology to build out our worlds, in spaces we own, it is truly the age of ideas. I've built a new home for my projects here, and in advance of my next major release with Transient Labs on June 16th, I want to share what I've made with you all, and open a dialogue about how we can use these tools as artists to enhance the experience of making and sharing our art. This is an overview of davekrugman dot com (link in thread), specifically about new sites for Drip Drop and DRIVE, and to that end, I'll give a work from each project to someone who reshares this post. If you are an artist who is curious on how to build a site for yourself, I would be happy to help, I'm an open book, ask me in the comments below. There are so many tools to use- I mostly used Claude / Anthropic- and now we can literally speak our ideas into reality , the possibilities feel truly infinite, if you have curiosity, patience, and a bit of time to explore a new frontier. For too long, artists have had to build on the rented space of social platforms, and now it feels like we can really create sovereign spaces that we own and make ours with our unique vision. It would be great if the chair of Transparency International, Anne Tolley, had to answer questions about transactions which have contributed to local rate increases. In my honest opinion, decision-making under the tenure of the commissioners has raised concerns. For example, public land was sold below market value on terms favourable to buyers over broader interests of ratepayers. In contrast, private land was purchased above or at market value often with favourable terms to the seller, raising questions about the cost and value to ratepayers. I made this LGOIMA request this morning stemming from the Council's Public Meeting. I would like to thank the new Council and the mayor for being far more transparent than the former unelected (but selected) Commissioners: Hi The Local Government Act 2002 promotes transparency, accountability, and democratic local government. The Auditor General stated in 2021 that: “Public accountability is about public organisations demonstrating to Parliament and the public their competence, reliability, and honesty in their use of public money and other public resources” Accordingly, I am making a request under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”) regarding the property at 160 to 176 Devonport Road, Tauranga (“the Property”). Second Valuation At the Council’s public meeting on 3 March 2025 (“March Council Meeting”), the Mayor stated in regard to the Property that: “The thing that disappoints me … but it is that it is another example where we have paid towards the top of the range of what we could have paid. You know, I think, we have heard today that potentially HOBEC [Holland Beckett Lawyers] pulled out of it cos it wasn’t economic to do a development and, its, again we have underestimated the asbestos costs of removing a building. Potentially we have underestimated the geotech issues we are going to have with the site. We have been through this with 90 Devonport Road where we sold an asset for a similar value and had to reduce it to make it work. Yet we have decided to pay the $10,000,000.00 and I am sure we are not going to get back from the vendors the extra to make this work financially. So, I get we bought this as a strategic asset, but we need to look at our processes more. We need to do our due diligence properly and we need to start paying market values for properties not above and I know we have one valuation that justifies this cost but the other one doesn’t back that up. I think that going forward that value for money piece is that we need to get a bit smarter with some of these transactions that we do”. At a public meeting earlier this week, a ratepayer asked the mayor about the second valuation. I understand that the mayor allegedly stated that the second valuation came in around $8.6 million to the early $9millions. This raises question given the Council confirmed in a LGOIMA response to me dated 19 September 2024 (“September LGOMIA”) that: 1) The Council paid $10 million for the Property and spent a further $1.53 million in demolition and development costs for 100 open air carparks; and 2) The gross annual debt funding cost for the Property (land and development) was $556,000 as at the date of the LGOIMA response. The Council’s December 2022 Agenda states that: “…5. The properties are earmarked for commercial/mixed use redevelopment in Priority One’s CBD blueprint, which forms part of Council’s City Centre Action and Investment Plan. 6. With this property becoming available, staff have identified several facets of the Strategic Acquisition Fund which does not enable it to be used efficiently for acquisitions of this nature. Staff will review this policy, to enable it to be used more strategically and flexibly, while still retaining appropriate checks and balances.” Visual Barriers for Carparks By way of summary, Council staff and Councillors stated at the March Council Meeting that $10 million of public funds were used to purchase the Property; where existing retail and offices were demolished which resulted in lost rental and rates and increased debt. That 100 “visible carparks” were established based on “anecdotal demand” (on the fringe of the CBD) after a more central carpark around the Central Precinct Development was closed by the Council around the same time. In addition, the Council is losing money on the carpark. A Councillor asked: “ … was it of a mindset that the Commissioners did this without evidence or did the staff actually present them with the evidence, and did they override it?” A Council staff member responded, that while he was not employed by the Council at that time, he understood that: “Yes, Elizabeth Street [existing carpark close to the Property] always has plenty of … or pretty much always has plenty of capacity. The team has implemented the majority of this system with a few things remaining, which are actively being worked on at present. I just want to be clear that this NOT the avatar spawn system you have seen in demo videos to date where we just randomly spawn an avatar anywhere, that is simple & we could easily release that specific feature but it was only for demo purposes to showcase avatars can spawn anywhere in the world. To be transparent, what we are working to release now is the actual avatar spawn system intended for long term use where Players need to synthesise their #avatar from their #Mentar on their property to begin its actual life inside #E2V1. It's important to point out this involves numerous API integration, UI/UX updates and is not a simple random spawn. Chapter 1 Pre-Alpha "Explore. Craft. Survive." will be dropping this quarter welcoming the very first inhabitants to #E2V1 & introduce early mechanics that will form the foundation of life inside #Earth2🌍✌️ Read below for important details: This update is no longer a simple avatar release but a significant update to the entire foundation of the #E2V1 world. When I first talked about dropping avatars I was eager to keep things moving and referred to a very simple system to test skins and movement, then to subsequently implement the full version after that. While this approach would have brought new content out quickly, it could have turned into weeks of extra development time with little upside for the wider community, apart from testing the movement and appearance of the avatars, there would have been little else to do until another subsequent update. Therefore I made the decision to focus solely on implementing the core part of the full system we plan to use long term on the platform. I apologise that this release will take a little longer than originally anticipated, having moved away from the initial lower spec'd plan, but I'd like to get this right & ready for a wider audience to start using and enjoying. As much as I'd love to push out updates faster, I will be taking this approach to #E2V1 development in the future as well. The plan will still be to release to our testing group first after our internal QA, test and then stabilise. If all looks good and we're happy with how everything is performing, we will push forward with a public release. There will inevitably be ongoing adjustments, additions and tweaks to these type of systems over time. It may seem like a long time, but #E2V1 was only released to our testing group 7 weeks ago! How crazy is that? I know for me it feels like many months already. Nonetheless, during this short period of time we have not only released a couple of updated versions, and an updated version to the Earth 2 Launcher, but the team has also been working incredibly hard on the #E2V1 and #BE mechanics for the Chapter 1 systems - and there is a lot involved in this upcoming release. We will be dropping an article later this week, which I believe will help our community understand the extensive list of features planned for this release and in turn explain why it is taking a little longer. I'd rather not spoil all of the details, but the article contains a lot of information about the various systems we're developing including rules of life, avatar synthesisation, death, saving, skins, day/night cycles, free to play model, avatar vitals, how land ownership fits in with all of this and much more. It is important to keep in mind that each of these systems needed to be designed and implemented, which takes time. The article will also begin to reveal some of the design plans I have been working on to increase utility for T1 land, which will also include various T1 classes. I also intend to follow through and expand utility on T1 land into other upcoming mechanics on the platform, some of which will be revealed in a separate article in the near future and are also part of the Chapter 1 release. Ideally, all going well, we will be testing early multiplayer at some stage this quarter and as mentioned earlier this year #Hordes in Q3, #EggHunt in Q4 & maybe some early buildings on properties. In addition to these goals, we have a couple of wild card features floating around in between as well. I know I reiterate it from time to time, but the long term goal for #Earth2 has not changed. We are building a #geolocational #metaverse - a platform! We still want #Players building cities, providing more individualised experiences, advertising, trading, shopping, e-commerce, socialising and so forth. And I still have plans to link #E2V1 into #AR and support #VR, but we cannot do all of this at once. I am also looking at ways we can expand the team and setup a studio, probably in East Asia, to speed up development. The current features we're focusing on plan to expand utility for land on a wide scale & introduce various experiences inside #E2V1, providing potential benefits for land owners & #Players alike on a broader level, while at the same time allowing our team to introduce mechanics that will be used throughout the future of the platform, test limitations and work our way around challenges as they arise. At the time, there was a wide chasm between boardroom jargon and the so called professionals, whether it was online or on CNBC. In the beginning, I was known for saying outlandish things, writing funny articles about my experiences in the market; but it wasn’t too far into the beginning of the site when the financial crisis hit and my bonafides were firmly established, having nailed that and many others since then. The halcyon days of the blogosphere pre Twitter was something to behold and I did my part in creating a community of like minded lunatics. We traded and did it well and argued and got mad at one another; because that’s what men do when competing. Once upon a time, the site hosted 200 bloggers, did a few public events, and regularly trolled CNBC with malicious intent. But those days are long over and I made a promise to you long ago that I’d never blog past the age of 47.5. Lo and behold, here I am at 48 with news that I am retiring from blogging as “The Fly”, in exchange for getting back into the field of professional money management. You have to understand, I have been given a gift from God to see what others cannot and my skillset is wasted by simply talking to a gaggle of ne’erdowells. Whilst I do appreciate your evergreen support and company, The Fly was always destined for greatness and I must bid you adieu.
