It was really the Pugh brothers that needed differentiating with a first name. McGrew would have sufficed for Barney. But I wouldn't change it for the world, wonderful.

Frederick Phillips wrote the music and died in 2002 in Ewell, Surrey. He wrote for opera and the ballet. He also helped made up the characters for Brian Cant. Reference -
