Pune: The Bridge to Nowhere

The unfinished state of the bridge is not accidental. Completing it would reduce real estate value gap between Balewadi and Wakad, and it is alleged that vested interests-politicians and builders in Balewadi are deliberately stalling the project at the cost of public convenience.

Pune is a shit show like no other . Due to corruption and lost opportunity. Soon it would be forgotten and replaced by Navi Mumbai

Builder lobby control state and PMC 🙏

Because this bridge is non-functional, vehicles are forced to divert via Rakshak Chowk to reach Baner–Balewadi. Instead of fixing the existing problem, the administration chose to “sense an opportunity” and started yet another bridge at Rakshak Chowk. Had the original bridge been functional, there was no justification for building a new one here. As usual, daily commuters are paying the price. During peak hours, crossing Rakshak Chowk now takes 25–30 minutes for what should be a 2-minute stretch. Poor planning, zero accountability, and taxpayers money exploited at every possible opportunity.

Thanks @VishalBhargava5 for raising this issue , I am also also trying to raise this with PMC and and made a list of bottlenecks in balewadi. Not a single action from PMC & current govt.Finally construction is started but heard still some issues with LA.

Pune has many such cases where bridge & underpass is ready but road is not connected

There is same road which goes nowhere because a cemetry exists on last . It's in yerwada which joins kalyaninagar would have reduced traffic on nagar road

There is one more bridge, which is connecting Kharadi and Keshavnagar. Approx length 700m, It is under construction for past 10 years.

Almost a year back, I tried cycling this incomplete road, just to know where it leads to. Found a bottle neck, leading to a labour camp, hardly 10 feet width.

Pune copying Mumbai in every aspect.

This ironic bridge. My friend bought his under condition property on Balewadi side right at the starts of this bridge when this bridge was launched .After waiting for 7 years for the bridge to complete he finally sold with 20 percent profit , what could’ve been 50 percent

This is not only bridge which is like this in Pune. There are 2-3 more bridges like this.

I think same situation will go to Mira Bhayandar double decker metro bridge, inaugurated this year and it's shows the sign of poorness civil construction.

Same issues in Lohgaon ,aiport area. 1. No expansion of airport started. 2. 509 chowk to Dhanori road is pending 2.Bharat mata road to DY patil road is pending since long. PMC ,MP MLA ,Coporatorators all are failed and currupt.People are buying water via private tankers

You visited Pashan. Should have checked Baner Pashan Link Road. 60 % road was built in 2014/15. Rest is still pending due to land acquisition.

Pure waste of public money and land mafias don’t even bother about court order.

Flyover at university circle was constructed then demolished for metro. Some crazy planning for sure.

Zopalet balewadi che nete, ajun pan kahi progress nahi.

I read somewhere recently that the work at the Balewadi end has begun now. I hope it gets completed.
