During the previous hearing, she had been remanded to police custody for three days. Due to progress in the ongoing investigation, she has today been granted a further two-day remand in police custody. This is a grave matter involving allegations of sexual harassment and mental harassment of a female victim, as well as inappropriate conduct allegedly committed by the accused within the workplace... We demand that the NTA be dissolved and it be converted into a national technical testing commission which has permanent staff, which has proper auditing of each of the exam it conducts. We also demand that not just 2026 but all the paper leaks that have happened in this country in last few years be investigated thoroughly and all the accused be brought to justice which includes NEET 2024 and NEET 2025. It is imperative that the government takes steps to solve these structural issues that are plaguing the systems of this country not just NTA but the entire exam system which includes the exam infrastructure which includes the vendors have to be audited properly and it has to be made sure that the country doesn't see any more paper leaks."

#WATCH | Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation into RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder incident. Advocate Billwadal Bhattacharyya says, "...There were statements made by the Chief Minister that they have no objection in transferring the case to the CBI but it was made time bound that after expiry of this particular period of time, we will transfer it to the CBI. But we say that this delay will be very fatal because evidence will be destroyed. So the court has heard the arguments of the parties. Today the parents of the victim girl, they also were there before the Court by way of a petition. And I contended on behalf of my clients, that despite this gruesome murder, despite the body being in such a bloodied state and half naked, the police was casual enough to register a suicide case and it took quite a lot of time for the police to basically register an FIR and thereafter arrest someone. So this was enough to indicate how casual the attitude of the police was. We are rather thankful and grateful to the Court that the case has been now handed over to CBI. We also wanted the investigation to be monitored by the Court. Now the Court has also directed the CBI to file periodic reports. In the event the parents of the deceased girl feel threatened, the CBI should always take all the necessary steps to give them protection under the witness protection scheme."

But I will call it something which has happened, which has violated the 100% integrity of the examination and our commitment to a zero-error examination. Insofar as the typical, traditional way of leak is concerned, no question paper in the form of a complete question paper has leaked anywhere. What has happened is that a guess paper in the form of a PDF was circulating on WhatsApp, and it had a few questions which were matching with the questions which were asked. When we verified whether this was in circulation before 3rd May, it was found that some of it was. So, given that a few questions were available to some people before the examination, it makes it unfair for the 22.79 lakh students who were preparing for this examination with their hardwork. So, because of that act of a few anti-social elements, we could not have compromised the interest of the honest students. So, we took this tough call of cancelling this examination and ordering a CBI inquiry."

I want to assure you that the Modi government, adopting a very responsible attitude, has also requested the court that its trial should be heard on a day-to-day basis, the accused should be given the harshest punishment, and the punishment should be given as soon as possible so that the students get justice."

He is now under scanner for allegedly demanding and receiving ₹1 crore to settle a cyber-fraud case, as reported in the media. The complaint alleges the money was transferred in two ₹50-lakh instalments through hawala channels in May 2026. The complainant submitted alleged WhatsApp chats and call recordings as evidence. A Special CBI Court in Delhi has issued notices and sought an Action Taken Report from the Chhattisgarh DGP and CBI Director on what action has been taken regarding the allegations.

NEET CANCELLED: A Global Power That Cannot Hold A Fair Exam. In this "RAW DISPATCH FROM MY DESK" i reflect on Twenty-three lakh students or 2.3 million students who will not sleep well tonight in one of the world’s fastest rising powers. Why? Because the government finds it difficult to ensure the integrity of an exam that will decide the course of their lives. Yes, for all its pretensions of being a world power, India cannot hold an exam without the fear of a question paper leak. The NEET exam for 2026 now stands cancelled and the students will be re-tested, re-traumatised. All it took was a paltry sum of Rs 5 lakhs to ensure that cheats got hold of the paper or at least large sections of it that reportedly matched the actual NEET paper “word for word, comma for comma”. The NEET ecosystem has repeatedly faced allegations of leaks, malpractice and compromised integrity over the past decade. Investigators claim that the paper was circulating days before the exam in WhatsApp groups as a “guess paper”. The question is how did a paper allegedly copied at a printing press in Nashik travel across multiple states including Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and Kerala without the NTA detecting a single breach? And if the paper is so easily accessed every so often, isn’t it evident that organised rackets have penetrated India’s examination ecosystem under the NTA’s watch? What is surprising is that not one top NTA official has offered to hold him or herself to account. Not one has offered to step down voluntarily. In fact, when the question was repeatedly asked of Abhishek Singh, the DG of the NTA , he was evasive. The point is a simple one: given the scale of its repeated failures, does the NTA understand that every leak destroys not just an exam, but public faith in the idea of fair competition itself? The Modi government prides itself on ensuring that every ordinary Indian gets a level playing field. It must now ask itself whether it is living up to that commitment made to the people.

The Justice Wave in Bengal On August 9, 2024, a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College was raped by one Sanjay Roy in the hospital. Her body was recovered in a semi-nude state with blood coming out from her eyes, mouth, and genitals. On August 10, Sanjay was arrested. On January 18, after the CBI took up the case, the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment till death. The CBI also booked the RG Kar principal and a police officer on allegations of tampering with the evidence. What did Mamata do? She handed over the case to the CBI, but only after the Kolkata High Court intervened.
