A boy named Jordan was entrusted with taking care of a bell pepper sapling that was recently planted by his mother. The sapling had 2 leaves when it was planted. In a few days a few more leaves came out. "Mom, the plant has 5 leaves now", Jordan ran inside shouting. Jordan was very possessive about the plant. It is about a foot tall now. He did not allow any insect, worm or bug to come close to it. There was a tiny ant hill near the plant. He smashed it and closed the hole. Next day, the hole again appeared. He closed it again. The hole reappeared. Jordan was tired of closing it. He left it as it is. One day while playing with his friends, one of the marbles fell inside the hole. He poked inside with his stick but couldn't find it. Next day as he was playing, he saw the marble coming up the hole. He thought it's magic. After a few seconds he saw ants pushing the marble up the hole. Jordan thanked the ants. The queen ant who was overseeing it, quipped, "Don’t mention it." Jordan was surprised listening to ants talking. "Please do not throw the marbles into our tunnels. It was blocking air from our AC," requested the queen ant. Message of the story? Ant tunnels enhance water infiltration and circulate air in the ground which is beneficial not only to the soil, but plant roots as well. Ants also help with pollination by crawling over one flower to another; in the home and outside, ants are natural pest control agents for termites. #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #SaveSoilFixClimateChange #SoilForClimateAction

Stratosphere was our biggest and heaviest character on #Transformers ROTB. He was a real challenge to deal with on the Modeling, Texturing, and Rendering side. He had 1434 UDIMs due to his immense scale and was made up of tens of thousands of objects. His level of detail was truly something else. His vehicle form was also a behemoth. We had also built a mortar for his robot form and a cannon for his vehicle form but neither of these made it into the film as his part in the final battle was cut out. He was originally supposed to help out in the final battle, using both of these weapons against the Sweepers and Predacons. The decision to cut him from the final act came very late as all of his assets were final at that point. We were never told the reason why his role was cut from the film. I had to re-design my texturing system in Mari when working on him to ensure that it could handle such a complex and large character. I had to simplify a lot of the procedural systems and even had to branch off some of them into their own files to ensure that artists could work with somewhat decent performance. We ran into a lot of issues pushing him through our pipeline, both as a model as well as rendering him due to the sheer amount of objects and textures that had to be processed. For shots, it was requested by Lighting that we reduce his memory footprint as Google had complained he was taking up too much memory and their I/O for rendering on the cloud was being affected. The leadership team and I decided that the best way to do this was to half the texel density on the parts that wouldn't be visible in our approved shots and to also half the resolution of the textures in the parts not visible to camera. This allowed us to optimize his memory footprint both in shots as well as storage and I/O. It was massive technical undertaking working on Stratosphere, so much so that we had to delay getting him into shots as we simply couldn't push him through with our normal tooling. I really enjoyed the challenge that he posed for us as a team. For a thousand years, when nobody was coming to help the British people, the British people helped each other. 🇬🇧 That has always been our answer. Long before any state asked it of us. Long before any law required it. We were already looking after each other. 🙏 In the year 900, every Anglo-Saxon man was bound by oath to nine of his neighbours. If one was wronged, the other nine were responsible for putting it right. ⚖️ The whole village answerable for each other. It wasn't charity. It wasn't kindness. It was the law. By the 1300s, every English parish kept what they called a poor box. 🍞 Bread for the family who couldn't farm. Wool for the widow who couldn't weave. Coin for the orphan with no one. The state didn't tell them to. The state didn't even exist yet. They just did it. In the 1400s, the wealthy started leaving their fortunes in their wills. Not to their children. Not to the church. To strangers. 🏛️ To houses where elderly neighbours could live for the rest of their lives. Some of those almshouses, founded six hundred years ago, are still housing British people today. In the 1700s, the working men came together. They didn't own land. They didn't have fortunes. They had a few pennies a week. So they pooled them. They called themselves Friendly Societies. ⏳ If a member fell sick, his family was fed. If a member died, his children were buried with dignity. If a member was injured, the doctor's bill was paid. By the 1870s, half the working men of Britain belonged to one. Long before there was a welfare state, the British working class had built one for themselves. Penny by penny. 🪙 In 1824, William Hillary watched a ship break up off the Isle of Man. He could hear the sailors calling for help. Nobody was coming for them. No navy. No coastguard. No state. ⛵ So Hillary asked the British people to be the ones who came. Volunteers. Donations. Lifeboats. Two centuries later, the RNLI has saved more than 146,000 lives. Still volunteer-run. Still funded by donations. Still no state involvement. 🌊 In 1862, half a million Lancashire mill workers were out of work. A naval blockade had cut off the slave-grown cotton from America. Their families were starving. Someone offered them slave-grown cotton from elsewhere. Just to keep working. They voted on it. In Manchester's Free Trade Hall. They voted no. They chose hunger. For people they would never meet. For people enslaved on the other side of an ocean. 💔 In 1911, a chancellor named Lloyd George stood up in Parliament. He had a plan. Workers would pay a few pennies a week. Their employers would pay too. And in return, when a worker fell sick, his family would be fed. The doctor's bill would be paid. He didn't invent the idea. He copied it. From the Friendly Societies the British working class had been running themselves for two hundred years. Thirty-seven years later, a Welsh miner's son named Aneurin Bevan made it national. 🏥 They called it the National Health Service. One of the proudest achievements in British history. And it was built on the model the Friendly Societies had been running for two hundred years before it. British working people had already invented it. The state finally caught up. The state didn't give us this. We gave it to ourselves. ✊ 🙏🇬🇧 Be part of us. Be Proud Of Us. 🙏🇬🇧

How the Ethiopian government is committing war crimes by taking the family members of Fano fighters hostage to pressure the fighters to surrender: The Ethiopian government has been using this inhumane tactic for some time. The Fano fighter you see in this video explains how they have been trying to capture him for a long time to no avail. When they couldn't find him, they went after his wife and two daughters. His wife had closed their cafe and had been in hiding with their two daughters, age 2 and 5, for their safety since the Ethiopian army had been looking for them. The Ethiopian army was able to find out where they were hiding by paying local bandas (sellouts). They told his wife that they had been looking for her husband but since they can't find him they will take her with them. She told them that she does not know his whereabouts, that he had joined Fano a long time ago and she has been busy raising the kids and couldn't help them. They took her away. She begged them to let her take her kids somewhere safe so someone can look after them but they refused and left the kids in the dark. The Fano fighter says that he does not know where they took his wife or where his daughters are, but that he will pay whatever sacrifice is needed to defend the Amhara people and come out victorious. This government doesn’t even show sympathy to children, it doesn’t show sympathy to women. Instead of finding Fano on the battlefield to defeat it, it goes after children and women. Even if they kill my wife and children, I will not leave the struggle and be an obstacle to the movement. We will have to make a lot of sacrifices to win the struggle. We have to grind our teeth through these sacrifices and come out victorious. Victory to the oppressed Amhara people. ~ Fano fighter Video Source: Mulugeta Anberber #WarOnAmhara #AmharaGenocide #Ethiopia Human Rights Watch Amnesty International Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) - ኢሰመኮ UN Human Rights

Everything in Israel is so fucking crazy: Ben Gvir's TikTok goon, along with a partly paid gang, cooperates with Israeli police to disperse and terrorize a pro-Palestinian protest. Mordechai David is a right-wing TikTok star who's literally turned into Ben Gvir's lapdog. For a while now, he's been leading small groups of young thugs who troll, harass, and verbally and physically attack protesters they deem "leftists". Nowadays, he also joins Ben Gvir on some official ministerial tours, accompanied by the police, such as a recent Ben Gvir visit to southern Tel Aviv, aimed at intimidating African asylum seekers. On September 1, a protest organized by Hadash Party was supposed to take place in central Tel Aviv. The demo was in support of international recognition of a Palestinian state, and was meant to include the waving of Palestinian flags. The protest was coordinated and approved by the police, perhaps even including the waving of flags. Before the protest even really began, it was attacked by Mordechai David's crew, and the police ordered the protesters to disperse. In this video, David brags openly about how he came with about 50 people, some of whom were paid by him with money he crowd-sourced through TikTok, in order to thwart the demonstration. He talks about how the police came to him later and thanked him for giving them an excuse to break up the protest. But the craziest part is that he proudly states that his group of thugs actually chased the protesters for kilometers, and police had to help the "leftists" escape via unusual routes, between buildings, so they wouldn't be attacked by David and his fellow Ben Gvir Brown Shirts - or, as they are nicknamed, "The Ben Gvirists".
