Samuel L. Jackson had one request for George Lucas before filming Attack of the Clones: he wanted Mace Windu’s lightsaber to be purple. Lucas explained that Jedi lightsabers were only blue or green, but Jackson simply replied, “Yeah, but I want a purple one.” He wanted to pick himself out during the massive Geonosis arena battle. Jackson has said he didn’t even know Lucas had approved the idea until he returned for reshoots and was shown the finished purple lightsaber.
