I genuinely thought this was a good hack "TO REDUCE RUSTING OF THE PADLOCK" Then they started miming the tools. Me thinks they've watched or seen this somewhere and didn't understand why it's being done.

Actually I can see a use for this. If you live anywhere freezing rain is an issue this would be a great way to protect an outdoor lock.
