Sarang Shidore: BRICS Common Currency is a FANTASY, but infrastructure to circumvent the dollar is being built 'BRICS currency is really a fantasy. Creating a common currency makes no sense, but it's also very difficult because it would require surrendering sovereignty by these countries, their central banks. And that's just not on with the diversity you have in BRICS. But what you can do is circumvent the dollar by direct national payments using national currencies, or local currencies as they're also called, to settle bilateral trade between any two members of BRICS, but ideally even the entire BRICS grouping, settling trades through an electronic system of transferring balances that occur between different countries, so that you get a kind of equilibrium of settlement.' -Sarang Shidore, Director of the Global South Program at the Quincy Institute, on the latest episode of New Order. Watch the full interview in the quoted post below. 👇

BRICS Bank President Rousseff: "The high tariffs are self-defeating... The U.S. trade imbalance is not caused by tariffs. It's caused by the fact that the United States controls the dominant currency... A hegemonic currency means the U.S. can spend without limits."

There's no #BRICS plan for a common currency. The discussion is around trading among member states using own currencies. 🇿🇦 Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana confirms what we've been explaining.

#WATCH | Delhi: Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, says, "We consider India as a great emerging country, which is now presiding over BRICS. BRICS is a very important institution right now and is playing a very important role. I'm sure that India is able to lead the BRICS group and the countries that are members of this group in an excellent way." He further says, "Inside BRICS, there are different opinions, but all members of the group believe that national currencies should be strengthened and trade between the member states should be conducted through national currencies. But having a single currency is still under consideration."

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what a BRICS currency is and isn't.

‼️ BRICS Currency Will Run On A Neutral Blockchain: Russia’s BRICS Expert Council BRICS had ZERO problem with the US dollar, until the US & SWIFT weaponized it against them. They claim that they want a neutral trade currency that can settle between multiple countries without anyone having control over it. Guess what, a Distributed Ledger Technology has already been piloted between BRICS nations since 2016. This DLT has a neutral, decentralized currency that can act as a bridge between multiple fiat currencies. Russia’s BRICS expert council head also says that even UAE is moving in that direction cautiously. UAE just exited the OPEC group and interestingly that same blockchain she is talking about, also settled the very first off-petrogrid oil transaction between UAE and India on its ledger in 2025. Can anyone guess which Distributed Ledger Technology or Blockchain they could be talking about?

This is equivalent to working for 40 years for a currency that can be created out of thin air.

❌ Saudi Arabia and Iran, as new BRICS members, are known for their disregard for women's rights or gender equality. This is a concern and a risk to SA's constitutional principles. "This isn't what BRICS can do for our nation, but what BRICS can do for the ANC." - John Steenhuisen MP
