The Department of Health and Human Services is handing out $6 million to states so they can start using predictive AI tools in child welfare. That means algorithms deciding whether families stay together or kids get taken. We didn’t ask for this. As sovereign citizens, we never consented to letting machines make these life-altering calls about our children. This is an absolute abomination to privacy. These systems pull in all kinds of data on families — and we all know how flawed government data can be. One wrong score, one biased input, and you’ve got real injustice. Families ripped apart who shouldn’t be, while others slip through. I’ve seen what these massive data centers are doing to our state — sucking up water and power so these surveillance systems can run on our information. They’re building the infrastructure for this whether we want it or not. Protecting children is non-negotiable. But handing that sacred responsibility over to unaccountable tech and federal grants? That’s not protection — that’s control. Parents, grandparents, concerned citizens — we have to push back. Demand real transparency and real human oversight, not black-box decisions made by machines. India needs to move towards One Nation, One Medical Treatment, where access to best medical care is available to all, regardless of income or influence. That is exactly why I questioned the low health allocation in this Budget and demanded a relook in Parliament. In this Budget, health gets around 2% of total government expenditure, roughly ₹1 lakh crore. But the real gap is bigger. Under the National Health Policy 2017, India committed to spending 2.5% of GDP on public health. In 2026, we are still at around 0.5% of GDP.We are nowhere near our own target. Other countries understand the value of health spending. Kyonki jaan hai toh jahaan hai. The US spends around 18% of GDP on healthcare, the UK around 12%, Germany around 13%, and countries like Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan and Spain spend around 10%. The consequences are visible. Government hospitals are understaffed and under-equipped. Overworked doctors, too few beds, shortages of machines and medicines, and waiting dates that delay treatment. When families cannot wait, they are pushed to excruciatingly expensive private hospitals. One health emergency then becomes a debt emergency.

Right now in Zaporizhzhia, our first responders, medics, police officers are working to help after a strike by Russian bombs. Air-dropped bombs on the city, on residential buildings, on the bus station, on one of the clinics. Unfortunately, there are casualties. No deadlines, no expectations work on them – they do not want to stop the killings. The only thing they are looking for is a way to kill Ukraine. We clearly understand the threats. All our partners just as clearly understand the threats. Everyone sees that there has been no real step from Russia toward peace, no action on the ground or in the air that could save lives. That is why sanctions are needed, pressure is needed. Strength is needed – of the United States, of Europe, of all nations in the world that want peace and stability in international relations. As a State Senator, I believe one of my responsibilities is to ask difficult questions when taxpayer dollars are being spent and to make sure public schools have the resources they need to educate Kentucky’s children. When a constituent of mine obtained procurement card receipts from Fayette County Public Schools in 2025 through an Open Records Request, they brought concerns about the spending to my attention. I took those concerns seriously and began asking questions about potential waste. Public schools are entrusted with taxpayer dollars, and that trust comes with a responsibility to be transparent and accountable. Questioning spending isn’t an attack on teachers, students, or the hardworking people who serve our schools. In fact, it is one of the ways we protect the resources our students and educators depend on. Fayette County Public Schools can get back on track by putting students first, improving academic outcomes, and making sure every taxpayer dollar is used wisely. I look forward to seeing their progress. I will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and responsible spending in all areas of government.
