The act imposed legal obligations on the DOJ. It required the Attorney General to release responsive records, protect victims' personally identifying information, and limit redactions to those specifically authorized by law, and provide Congress with an accounting of what was withheld and why. Yet 6 months past the deadline, the department has failed to do that.

He's been told to say, hey, listen, we're moving on beyond this…. but we're not going to move on because the law has been broken. The law that was voted on by damn near every member of congress to release the files, they took over a month to do that, which is illegal. They redacted names that weren't supposed to be redacted. They unredacted names of victims, which put their safety at risk. And there needs to be accountability here, no matter who you are.
