A Fire Department commander in the field should be entrusted to call a "code red" rather than waiting for a "paper pushing" Supervisor to do so. It sounds like there were multiple failures before and during this tragedy.

Officials are NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE in Red States. We've this again & again. Were this NY or CA or MA, Republicans would already be holding Senator hearings.

Sheriff arrested for DUI while driving state issued vehicle. It started with a state-owned white Ford Explorer driving on a bare rim into the MGM Springfield valet. When Massachusetts State Police arrived, they were stunned to find the driver was none other than Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi. The bodycam footage captures a tense exchange. Cocchi initially claims a "friend" was driving, but later admits he was behind the wheel. Watch as he repeatedly asks the lieutenant to "turn that off" (referring to the camera) and tries to talk his way out of the situation. The officer requested that the Sheriff take a field sobriety test twice and the sheriff refused both times. After refusing field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer, the Sheriff was handcuffed and taken into custody. While the officer stood firm with arresting the sheriff for DUI, when it came time to transport he allowed him to sit in the front seat. Wonder how often others are arrested for DUI and get this treatment. Result of his charges Cocchi took a "Continuance Without a Finding" (CWOF), admitting there were sufficient facts for a guilty finding. He received the following: Probation: 1 Year License Suspended: 45 Days Fees: Paid $2,400 for vehicle repairs and court costs. He was was suspended for 3 days without pay for his conduct. Despite his behavior Cocchi remains the active Hampden County Sheriff. What do you think? Should an elected law enforcement official keep their job after an arrest like this?
