It was an honour to direct Tower Hamlets Council to have a one minute silence in memory of the late Somaliland President Ahmed Silanyo. I also spoke of the recent peaceful elections that took place in Somaliland, and I congratulated the new Somaliland President Cabdiraxmaan Cirro I reminded TH Council that I brought a motion in 2015 to formally recognise Somaliland as an independent state. A reminder of that historic meeting here: I will always be proud to have done this for the ppl of Somaliland.
