In July the British Academy’s president wrote about how she had previously warned Keir Starmer that “cuts and contractions in higher education and research were impacting disproportionately on the humanities and social sciences, risking lasting damage to UK universities.” On what planet is £390 MILLION (for one social sciences and humanities “academy” alone) evidence an example of “an ongoing funding crisis threatens to engulf and distort the sector”? Besides, who cares if the sector is destroyed? I wish the British Academy got £0 from taxpayers seeing as I don’t care about “queer fish” and all the other crap it funds/ promotes - like Professor Dan Goodley who has had over £2.4 MILLION in taxpayer grants (from other sources and not even the BA!)
