Quest 3's new depth API is freakin awesome. Made this little demo - I could sit in here forever.

You can see the depth sensor being used to add occlusion to virtual objects. The virtual TV is getting blocked by the real light. Using the scene mesh you can also make particles and objects stay contained within your room. In my little demo you can sit in the grass, play with particles, see your cats in their natural habitat, maneuver around a virtual camera. It makes me feel quite tingly! I will release a version of it with tomorrows.. Saturday Newsday? I wanna try out shards wrath before covering it or saying a word on it!

holy hell I want to try this are there any public demos they released?

I’ll probably release it tomorrow maybe? It’ll be in Erhm, Saturday Newsday 😅

VR fitness app PowerBeatsVR has just made its way to the official Meta Quest store! Grab it now and enjoy a fun workout anywhere, anytime, and without any subscription ever:

that looks amazing! i don’t know if the latency will be able to be improved over the lifetime of the Quest 3, but i hope so

You could make a genuinely useful scene which allows you to import to-scale items before you purchase them to see if they work. For example, with some new wood panelling, you could get a decent sense of the scale before you get the panels using this technology! Truly amazing!

@SVVRLIVE Dude. That's rad to see occlusion.

Where has this been???? NEED!

That's pretty cool, good work man

crazy

Why have they not added this to the home environment. They could finally get rid of the stupid grey hand outline for hand tracking and just let you see your own hands
