Anyone hating on this dude can go fuck themselves. Many of us didn’t grow up with engaged, competent fathers. Or any father at all. Keep asking those questions without shame my brothers.

Will, 1. Are you serious? 2. If yes - the “thick part” is just the stud (2x4 planks of wood that frame your home) They’re usually 16-24” apart behind the drywall. The screw goes directly into the stud. Use a stud finder to find where they are and mark them. A stud finder is a must have tool for any dad. The purpose of the clear anchor is to support the screw. The drywall itself isn’t strong enough to hold a screw, it’ll just crumble and fall out. The anchor gives it something to grab on to and bare weight in lieu of a stud (like gardening tools). Ideally you’d want to support anything holding significant weight with studs and not anchors because most anchors just won’t hold much. Sorry if this was patronizing. DM me for more help.

First off, you put screws, not nails, in those little white things (that's why it comes with them.) Second, if you can hit two studs, just run screws into both and forget all the drywall anchors in the middle holes. If you ever need help with home improvements, just hit me up.

These or the white anchors that screw in will make you never use the clear ones that come with whatever you buy ever again if you can’t drill in a stud

Stud no plastic needed but don’t use nails, use screws if you’re hanging

A little advice.. You don’t need anchors (clear things) for the drywall or the studs. You don’t want to drill into the studs either, it’s weaken the structure of your house. I wouldn’t make this up

Quick tip…knock on the wall and listen for the dense sound, that’s a stick…or look for wall outlet and a stick is either on the left or right of it…once you locate that stick run a tape measure and every 16 inches there should be a stick.

After this post, being a former NFL LBer is the only reason you still have a man-card.

If you hit stud, cool. No need for an anchor. Just make sure you’re not hitting conduit with electrical in it.

You need to invest in a good stud finder. One that will sense electricial wires/conduit. Also when you're drilling into a stud, check the filings that are coming out to make sure they are wood. A good stud finder will help u "look before you leap" so you're not just randomly drilling thru water lines, electrical wires/components or anything else u shouldn't be drilling thru. Once you find and mark the studs that should be the only thing you're securing anything more than a picture too. Sheetrock isn't meant to hold a lot of weight.

1. If you found a stud, you don't need anchors.... 2. you are drilling far too many holes for what you are hanging up... just find the studs and use real screws no anchors in those locations and you are fine. 3. You are not using Nails quit saying nails.

You don’t need anchors when you hit the stud. Be sure to find the stud fist and use a smaller drill bit so the hole isn’t too big for the screw.

One time I did this thinking I was drilling into a stud....turns out a drilled a hole in my gas line. So....just make sure you're not doing that.

Buy urself decent Stud finder with electrical line alert Will save you so much time. A MUST for mounting TVs with Lag bolts. I like to go back and forth with stud finder and then do a left line and a right line so I have an almost exact idea where the stud is. Then I drill right in the center of that

You might have metal studs btw. Which requires something different

No need for an anchor on the stud… but, I hope by nail you mean screw Willy. And watch out for any wiring / electrical. Also, does your drill happen to say Ryobi by any chance?

You are correct, if you’re in the stud, no wall anchor needed. #GBR

Bro you sound like a retard and those are gonna hold shit, get the toggles and don’t use a drill bit unless you want to hit an electrical wire. You hit a stud

Yup. “Hard part” is stud. Don’t need the clear anchor

Will, when you hit a stud just go straight in with a screw. No need for an anchor. I would highly recommend using these flip toggle anchors instead of the cheap plastic ones. They will last forever and hold a lot more weight.

I applaud you for the bravery to put that out there. I’m sure you’ve learned by now that yes, you hit a stud and in that case you just need the screw. Studs are always preferred over plastic anchors when possible. -Fellow dad doing Dad shit in the garage today too in Nashville
