Weird answer. We know tons about the back side, but not confirmed water ice like in the South Pole, plus with the extreme communication challenges it wouldn’t be a good idea to send a crewed mission there until more lunar infrastructure is developed.

Andrew, I am just absolutely perplexed by what took place here. I thought it was a comedy routine.

"Which is the side that's always in dark" 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Let's unpack that statement...LOL Synchronous Rotation The moon takes approximately 27.3 days to complete one orbit around Earth, which is the same amount of time it takes to rotate once on its axis. This means the same side of the moon always faces Earth, and the other side, sometimes called the "far side" or "dark side," is never visible from our planet. Lighting on the Moon The moon has no atmosphere, so it receives direct sunlight from the sun without any scattering or diffusion. This means the sun's light hits the moon's surface with great intensity, creating: Day side: The side of the moon facing the sun is fully illuminated, receiving direct sunlight. Night side: The side of the moon facing away from the sun is in darkness, receiving no direct sunlight. Far Side Lighting Although the far side of the moon never faces Earth, it still experiences day and night cycles just like the near side. When the moon is in the full moon phase, the far side is in darkness, and when the moon is in the new moon phase, the far side is fully illuminated by the sun.

So we’ve had satellites going all TF around the moon for decades, and… wait, lemme get this straight… and we don’t have a flippin clue about it!?!🫨

How do you spend like 30 years in Congress as one of NASA's biggest advocates and you even flew a STS mission as a payload specialist, and you give an answer like this? I think it's time for Bill to retire, he's forgotten where he is and what he's doing.

I’m pretty sure Pink Floyd has either been there, or they will be there soon💯

The “far side” of the moon always faces away from Earth but we know plenty about it. It is well lit half the time so a probe in orbit can see plenty. The “dark side” just the equivalent of night on the moon.

It's where the Autobots ship crashed. They made a documentary about it.

He knows whats on the dark side, listen to how he answered it.
