This was not a small operation. This was a major operation short of an actual invasion, and it failed. There is just no doubt that the military operation was not a success. And hopefully, at a minimum, we will not be having that debate again. It has now been settled. It's no longer a theoretical or academic topic. It has been tried, proven to be a failure.

A very harsh threat, made by Netanyahu toward Iran. What is behind the heightened tone? It is not only harsh, it is also unusual. The event that took place in recent months was a paralyzing fear of what is called miscalculation. They will think that we will attack first, even though that was not the intention, and then they will attack, and the entire region will be dragged into another round of confrontation. In a region where there is fear of miscalculation, you are not supposed to announce this kind of thing in the Knesset. I just want to make that clear. Yesterday, Naftali Bennett promoted his press conference on the conditions of soldiers, okay? He gets six million views because the timing looks like a countdown and he is a former prime minister, so the Iranians are in hysterics that he is actually announcing that they are going to attack. That’s the atmosphere. So when Netanyahu attacks like this and makes an unprecedented threat—not only harsh but also unusual—one can’t help but think that for Netanyahu there is a message, or something more problematic than miscalculation. And he wants to warn the Iranians. Now, what’s the issue? The issue is that if the Iranians come to the conclusion that their regime is on the verge of collapse, there is one thing that might save them. And that is an attack on Israel. Because we saw during the war what is called “rally around the flag.” Even those who were in the opposition rallied around the flag when their country was attacked. It is not only the Islamic Republic that is under attack, but also the Islamic Republic of Iran. That is essentially the issue, and that is what Netanyahu, in my opinion, is trying to stop with the threat he issued after the security discussion.

AN ATTACK OF COUNTY OFFICERS! It is the highest level of impunity for anyone to attack officers of the Nairobi City County Government while they are lawfully discharging their duties. Earlier today, our officers who went to remove an illegal structure that was blocking a public road were violently attacked and beaten by mobilized goons behaving like criminals. I am not yet coming to any definitive conclusions on the strike that killed the schoolgirls in Iran. There is mutually conflicting information, and we have seen these types of tragedies get weaponized and propagandized. If it was the result of an American strike, I have no doubt it was not deliberate. From what I understand, the school was adjacent to an IRGC “target”. It is possible it was struck by accident, or tangentially as part of an attack on an IRGC target (setting aside arguments that Iran would have placed a girls school adjacent to an IRGC establishment for these specific reasons, or that any strike on an IRGC target should not have occurred if there was a school in the vicinity). It is also possible it was struck by an errant Iranian missile. The problem with Trump’s answer - or more specifically from the follow-up answer from Hegseth, is that Hegseth’s answer “we’re certainly investigating” undermines Trump’s statement. I am not one of those who believes the US deliberately targets children. Civilian death, and the death of children, is the inevitable consequence of these wars. How many tens of thousands of innocent children were killed in Iraq? And how heinously has Madeleine Albright’s assertion that “it was worth it” aged… These were our very concerns with this type of war.

And there is no question that these individuals were removed from the fight. They were in the last hours of their life even if we had left them alone, because they were floating on a piece of flotsam in the middle of the ocean.

John Mearsheimer on October 7: “It’s consistent with international law for Hamas to want to break out of the concentration camp and engage with Israeli military forces in combat, which means they’re going to kill some of them. So the fact that they killed Israeli soldiers is not a case of murder. Now, there were clearly Israeli civilians who were murdered as well, but I would be willing to bet, in the final analysis, however, that Hamas did not murder many of those Israeli civilians. But be that as it may, whoever murdered those civilians committed a war crime. But I think most of the Israelis who were killed were either soldiers, who were legitimate targets, or they were civilians who were killed by the Israeli forces. I think you cannot underestimate how many Israelis were killed when all that [Israeli] firepower was brought to bear. And if you look at the pictures and you listen to what happened, it’s clear that those Apache helicopters really wreaked havoc on everything that was down on the ground, and of course that included Israeli civilians. [...] What’s also quite stunning about this whole issue is that no one talks about why there was a breakout. Nobody talks about the fact that this was a concentration camp and what was being done to the Palestinians was abhorrent. And of course there was going to be a breakout from that concentration camp at some point.
