@TPASarah That is why we train with our weapons. We can still pick out strangers in our communities, we can call the police to verify the presence of unknown officers at our doorstep. We can shoot back if fired upon for no reason. We have a right to protect ourselves.

If you don't have a GMRS or Ham radio yet, you should probably invest in one. Comms are vital for any situation. Even if you're not spun up to send out frequencies/messages, you can still listen in and find out what's going on.

I'm around your age Shawn, and I have kids about the same age as yours... these things keep me up at night a whole lot more than they used to. Small close knit communities are maybe the best bulwark against it... can't impersonate the cops when the whole town knows them by name.

The worst part is talking to LE about things like this from the private sector. They don't think the contracting world has anything to provided that they don't already have the SMEs in. Here's a hint, they don't.

No one is coming to save you. Your local pd is not trained for this and will stay home to protect their own.
