I drove over a bridge near Oxford and paid a man the 5p (6.4¢) toll. Min wage in the UK is £11.44; to break even they’d need 458 cars/hour to cross (2 tollmen). The bridge is a tax haven- privately owned, George III decree’d it tax free indefinitely in 1769.

#BREAKING 🇷🇺🇺🇦 This morning Russian airstrikes targeted Ukrainian bridges over the Dniper River in the city of Zaporozhye. The main bridge was damaged but not directly impacted and there are claims that Russia also targeted the Hydroelectric power plant/dam, but there is no confirmation about that. Given Ukraine's targeting of the Crimean bridges, it looks like Russia has decided to respond by taking out some Ukrainian bridges.

Ukraine struck the ferry crossing at Kerch Strait, an oil terminal at Chushka, and the ferry Panagia - the route Russia used to move trucks, fuel and military cargo after banning heavy vehicles from the bridge in 2022. Power outages followed overnight. The only land route left runs through Rostov-on-Don and Mariupol. Since early May, at least 415 trucks have been hit and six bridges damaged along it. Every alternative Russia built into this peninsula is closing, one strike at a time.

The King Fahd Causeway, known as the "Bahrain-Saudi Friendship Bridge," is built over the Persian Gulf and connects Bahrain Island to Saudi Arabia. This bridge is 25 kilometers long. There were some reports that an Iranian drone struck the bridge since it was being used by the Americans. Although I haven’t seen proper videos of it. But the bridge was certainly closed and a security cordon was put in place. The live CCTV footage was reportedly turned off as well. The possibility exists that there was some transport that they did not want anyone to know about, hence the security cordon.
