First thing you need to do with a brand new extension cord. Splash a bunch of different colors of paint on it even hit it with a spray cans. And put some electrical tape on it in three places. This way your brand new cord looks very old and no one will steal it.

If you worked on films or any large production you know how to wrap a STINGER. Not an electrical cord. Real pros know. This is fine what he is doing.

Electrician here. No ancient proverb here. This is the only way I allow cords to be stored. Been that way for 23 yrs now. Never gonna change

Whatever. I have 20 year old extension cords I wrap around my elbow to hand in a loop like you’re not supposed to and they’re fine. I’m not stopping until I see it cause issues.

Oh man huge pet peeve. Had guys that used to do this to save time rolling up. My question to them, in the morning when the hell are you ever going to need both ends of that chord in the same place to work.

Yeah, learn to coil them. The cords get trained. Cords don't like to twist (in the case of airless lines or a 450 ft net with float line on top and lead line on bottom, those can not twist), so you coil them. Can throw the line and it goes out. Too much to explain, learn it.

Pay lines out and in, like the Navy. All yachtsmen know this too.

Maybe I've spent to much time working in AV, we have these Velcro strips that fasten at the head of the cable. Wrap via over under, then secure it via the Velcro strip.

I always stretch it out grab the female end and coil no doubling up otherwise pretty much the same.

I braid my cords. Just a preference thing. Had a new guy once on his First day refuse to do it. He wanted to roll them over his arm. Told me both his parents were electricians and that’s how they do it. I fired him on the spot and told him to go work for his parents. Kids

lol, no. Learn how to wrap cords properly, especially if you depend on them. Your cord looks like trash because that's how you treat it. Over/under is the way for every cord.

Awesome thank you! I learned this trick from my high school technical / skills center in electronics/ robotics. I am still using this method 30 years later!

Just crochet it, making a chain, then plug it into itself. Next time you use it just undo as many stitches as you need. No tangles, no fuss. Learned that at a Union electrical school.

That’s a shit way to do it, leads are twisted like rope so they only coil one way, by going end to end you are twisting one half of it backwards, it’ll create problems in the future

LOL the quick way: step one: take ten minutes laying the line out straight and taking out all kinks and twists

That 95 degrees is great for rolling it up. Try it in winter 😂
