Yeah, I think America has been arguably in an elevated state of forwardness, creatively - not in any absolute sense, but let’s say that Americans are often focused on innovation, broadly-speaking… It’s therefore no wonder there would be less of a focus on how it’s been done before… I’m not saying American musicians should ignore the past, not at all… But our musicians here are often looking towards what’s next, which reflects the greater culture… And I think jazz, to an extent, has in-kind morphed into more of a mindset rather than a strict genre… and I think jazz aptly carries such a spirit! 🪽🎵
