Excellent from @StephenFlynnSNP . Our friends outside Scotland should listen to reality of Westminster constraints on devolved Governments.

I think Flynn is the one who needs devolution explained to him.

Why should we pay twice for welfare? We already pay tax to Westminster. If they choose not to spend it mitigating poverty, why should Scotland make cuts or raise taxes in order to fill the gap? Btw this would be the case regardless of who runs the Scottish Govt.

The English Labour MP interrupting is the eternally preposterous Scottish born MP for Brent West, @BarryGardiner. Rather than playing the smart arse with Stephen Flynn (and being schooled), he should focus on his constituents who'd benefit NOW from elimination of the 2-child cap

Exactly. And those disgusting smirking Labour MP's should be ashamed of themselves. Frankly I'd be embarrassed knowing that the only reason people voted for me was because they falsely believed it was necessary in order to get rid of the tories.

This is all nonsense. If Holyrood wishes to pay benefits then it wouldn’t have the same money to spend on other things. Devolution was in part to allow Scotland to make different choices than the rest of the country. The SNP chose not to create a benefit to deal with cap.

Surely if we had independence, there would be no need to mitigate or grovel for anything. I wonder who was allocated that task?

The simplest way to tell, how the Union works, WM takes all the UK Revenues, WM apportion a 3.5% Budget to Scotland, a 3.2% Budget to Wales & a 2.8% Budget to NI, England keep the rest, that's over 90% of the UK Revenues England keep, now is that the fair Union ye think yer in?
