Racism against nurses working in Britain's hospitals has soared 55% in three years, according to data released by the Nurses' Union today. 'Racism has become so open and normalised.' Neomi Bennett talks to @charlottehawkns and Ed Balls about her experiences.

Ahhhh as I predicted. We will now be inundated with stories about racism. I'm not saying is doesn't happen and it should be called out, but to start to demonise us all as racists...please.....this is a deliberate ploy I'm convinced, to shut us down from any discussion, opinion, critisism of immigration, legal and illegal. Blair did this to effect. Wont work this time. We are not racist we are justly concerned about certain appeased, pandered to groups who seem to hate us all.

@CharlotteHawkns @edballs I've worked with some bad & good nurses & doctors of all skin colour.Some have attitude, chip on shoulders & dare not look at them the wrong way.Tread on egg shells with some who don't think they should be reported for bad practice because if they are of colour "it's racism"🤷‍♀️

@CharlotteHawkns @edballs Every person deserves to be treated with respect Some nurses (irrelevant to colour) are absolutely amazing, life savers, highly competent, caring, aspirational etc. Some are not. Perhaps they’re tired, need more training. People get frustrated but need to be respectful

Where would I be without them regardless of colour or anything else, I dread to think. Why would anyone be anything towards someone who was caring for them is beyond me

@CharlotteHawkns @edballs The clip U showed to "prove" racism was a non white nurse saying to a non white patient "we are in this together" & patient disagreeing. SO if nurse was the one refering to race WHO was being racist ? I hv had a LOT of time in hospitals & many staff hv been beyond rude.
