Saw them play “The Bends” front to back when they opened for R.E.M. in Dallas in 1995. Amazing show.

Ppl “in the know” say their later stuff was intelligent and groundbreaking or whatever, but I much more like albums that contain actual songs and melodies like their first two LPs

A lot of people sleep on The Bends, and I have never understood why, it is an incredible album

Always amazes me how much they transformed over time. This is a favorite.
