A number of people like Nsereko Muhammad are calling on Museveni, the very man who unlawfully abducted Dr. Besigye from Kenya on 16 November 2024 and has kept him imprisoned for over a year in violation of his constitutional rights to "forgive" him. That framing completely misses the point. Like every Ugandan who believes in justice, I want to see Dr. Besigye free. But I'm not going to pretend I desire his freedom more than he does. Dr. Besigye has been consistent from the beginning: the treason charges against him are fabricated, and all he has demanded is what every citizen is entitled to a fair trial before an independent court. This struggle has never been about begging for the mercy of a ruler. It has always been about defending the rule of law against the abuse of state power. Justice is not a favour bestowed by those in power; it is a constitutional right owed to every citizen. As a believer in democracy and constitutionalism, I stand behind whatever decision Dr. Besigye makes. The fight is for justice, not mercy.

Quackery in Shark Tank is not new but this was too much for even sharks to handle. He also went on to make his revenue 100 Cr from 10 Cr and got roasted instead. UPDATE President Trump has confirmed that he is seeking a huge settlement from the Justice Department he controls for the various investigations and prosecutions against him. The New York Times reports he is seeking around $230 million. The president claims he will donate the funds to charity, but most of his recent settlements have gone to the foundation set up to pay for his presidential center and library in Miami. This means DOJ funds, appropriated by Congress, would pay for the promotion of his legacy.

Feel terribly sorry for Dr.Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and his emotional “Retirement Speech”! When DMK came back to power in 2021, Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) (and his 'sold' pedigree) was seen as someone who could bring a turnaround to the state’s finances. But he was so naïve and alien to DMK politics that he started seriously questioning finances. As a result, he exposed the DMK first family tooth and nail. Since then, he has been relegated from the Finance Ministry (arguably the second most powerful ministry) to the relatively innocuous IT Ministry, which suggests he was sidelined not because of his performance but because of his honesty. If you are honest, you can never be with DMK! Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) should have instantly quit DMK and reached out to "other options" that would have “onboarded” him with “open arms.” If he had done that, today he wouldn’t be weeping like this. I feel terribly sorry for Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and the lack of judgement that has resulted in his possible “Retirement Speech”!
