Rainbow made the Top Ten in the UK with Russ Ballard's song, Since You've Been Gone, bringing together some rather different influences to weld ...1979's Down To Earth is one of Rainbow's best albums. Since You've Been Gone might be too slick for some, but it's a classic rock track.

Of all the covers of this Russ Ballard classic, I think the Rainbow version is the best! What a lineup in this incarnation of the band. Blackmore, Cozy Powell, Roger Glover, Don Airey & Graham Bonnet. How is this band not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame?

Blackmore doing pop was always a little weird. It was a hit though.

Filmed in that very short window of music where you could front a legendary rock band looking like a Miami narc. Graham Bonnet, top level vocalist.

Can anyone agree that only Dio in Rainbow was the best iteration of the band. I can't listen to anyone else singing.

Graham Bonnet deserves higher praise.

Saw Brian May cover this on his solo tour around 1993. He introduced it as “ the song he wished he had written”. Love the bass line through this.

Great vocal! Plus Russ Ballard the writer is a very clever chap. This was always gonna make it!
