This is what we do and it works very well for us. My son now sees jobs that need doing (ie. cleaning the car) and writes me an estimate for the job, potentially negotiates, does the job, then writes me the invoice. He has to have it spelled correctly and the math complete with a total. It’s the ultimate homeschool hack for a zesty boy who has drive.

I’m giving my kids stock options in the family, so they know how to create shareholder value. Everything will be a scam so they learn that about the world too

Tell your 4 year old to find a problem that mommy and daddy have that he can solve by doing something. Make sure his solution is a real one and hold firm until it is. Explain why if it isn’t. It can’t be a standard expectation like cleaning their room. Then offer them a payment for the service. I pay my toddler 2 chocolate chips to feed our chickens.

My parents always gave me “pay jobs” if I wanted to earn cash. Clean the garage… $3.00. Cut the grass, $2.50. Clean the basement, $3.50. Needless to say, those jobs were always available.

Agree with many of the comments here. Total horseshit.
