Kamil Semeniuk's Interview about Yuki Ishikawa ✨️ Q. As a fellow outside hitter, what are your impressions of Ishikawa? "Yuki is an incredibly determined player. Just when he was finding his rhythm and starting to play at a very high level, he suffered injuries, both minor and major, such as a knee injury. But now he's slowly making a comeback, and we can see he's regaining his rhythm. He's in a condition to contribute to the team, and that's the most important thing. He's always there on the court, bringing positive changes. Everyone would want a player like Yuki on their team." Q. What do you think are the differences between Ishikawa's playing style and your own? "That might be something you should ask the coaches about. I personally think we're very similar types of players. We both have a strong receiving background. We're not particularly tall, but we can jump high. However, our team has four receivers with very similar skill levels, and in order to earn a starting position and play in games, everyone has to give their all in every practice." Q. What is Ishikawa's personality like off the court? "Yuki comes from a different cultural background, so we're interested to see what he thinks and how he behaves. It's been two years now, so we're used to it. Yuki is a really positive guy and someone you can talk to about anything. Even when he's being teased, he doesn’t take himself too seriously, he can laugh along with everyone else. That's what's so great about him. I think in general, Japanese people don't take offense, even when there’s a bit of lighthearted teasing going on. Yuki is incredibly easygoing. But above all, he’s a great teammate who supports everyone and brings constant positive energy. He may not have many opportunities to play this season, but he's making a huge contribution to the team from the bench. Whether he’s coming on as a substitute or just seeing him passionately cheering from the bench gives us, at least me, a lot of strength. After the spot he picked up his shoulder injury not only did he finish the match, he hit Rey w/ a Michinoku Driver, set up his dad and Rey Fenix's offense, did a post-match angle and then met and took pics w/ fans after the show. Dominik 'for the love of the game' Mysterio. Credit to referee Eddie Orengo too for checking in and communicating w/ him at several points.
