Ran Neuner explains why Hyperliquid's real float is way tighter than its $80 billion FDV suggests "The one thing that people don't realize about Hyperliquid, you say, wow, this thing's valued at $80 billion. But there's an old valuation on companies, FDV - number of shares in circulation times...

FDV is the wrong yardstick. Float plus staking pressure is what moves Hyperliquid.

FDV definitely doesn’t tell the whole story when a large part of the supply is locked or staked.

That's an interesting perspective on valuation! Scarcity and pressure really do play key roles in crypto.

That $55M listing bond is where the FDV math starts falling apart

Partly because the loudest timelines chase pumps. The people who just use it tend to stay quiet on purpose.

Float matters

FDV tells you the headline valuation. It doesn’t tell you how much supply is actually available to absorb demand. That’s where things get interesting.

This guy Ran called the bottom at 100k then at 90k then at 80k then at 60k then at 57.7K and now he is right. Absolute genius 👏

This is where FDV math gets awkward.

Staking lockups make Hyperliquid’s real float far tighter than that $80B FDV

Sounds like a classic case of numbers needing a reality check.

Hyperliquid traders are valuing CXMT at $535 billion, 6x its actual IPO valuation "Crypto market offers pre-IPO bets on Chinese chip maker CXMT. I still have to sort of giggle to myself that we get Hyperliquid headlines on Bloomberg. But here you go, for the next 12 days nobody on Wall Street can buy a single share of the biggest chip IPO of the year. Crypto traders are already trading it and they're pricing it at several times what the company says it's worth" "There's now a market where you can go long on a Chinese memory chip company that isn't public yet, in shares you'll never actually own, at three in the morning on Sunday, with leverage. If that sentence doesn't scare you, then congratulations, you're exactly the person this was built for" "CXMT is China's largest DRAM maker and the world's fourth largest memory manufacturer. They raised $8.5 billion at an $85.5 billion valuation, that is settled. Last I checked it was trading on Hyperliquid at a $535 billion valuation, roughly a 526% premium. We saw this with SpaceX and others, but not nearly at this high a valuation" "To be clear, this contract is synthetic. There's no shares, there's no ownership, it's a pure bet on where this basically opens in 12 days. This is crypto doing price discovery that Wall Street structurally can't. It's instant and it's permissionless. And imagine what happens when the billions of people in China find out that they can do this"
