It is almost like the bigger problem is lack of revenue from decades of tax cuts for corporations and the super wealthy. We can't cut our way out of a deficit, but we can hurt millions of Americans by trying to.

What people are missing is that entitlements are called like that because you are literally entitled to those programs because you already paid for them (social security taxes, medicare taxes, etc). It’s like saying “we should take money from checking accounts”.
