According to Hilton, workers who raised concerns that children could be released to gang members, traffickers, forced labor or other dangerous situations were terminated. Then there were 65,000 unanswered calls to a hotline created for children who believed they were in danger. And when Becerra personally visited the Pomona facility, Hilton says the whistleblower noticed another change: “We were told to speed everything up.” Now Hilton is running to lead California and demanding answers about what happened to these children and who should be held accountable.
