The Meaning Behind What Lucy Powell Really Said There comes a moment when the mask slips, when the carefully constructed political facade crumbles, and the public glimpses the truth behind it. For Labour’s Lucy Powell MP, that moment came during BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions, when she was asked whether she had seen the Channel 4 documentary exposing the industrial-scale sexual exploitation of vulnerable white working-class girls by grooming gangs. Her response? “Oh, you want to blow that little trumpet now, do you? Let’s get that dog whistle out, shall we?” This wasn’t a gaffe. It wasn’t a slip of the tongue. It was a revealing moment of political instinct and one that laid bare the contempt held by parts of The Labour Party for the victims of these appalling crimes. Let’s decode the Leader of the House of Commons' words. Calling it a “little trumpet” is not just flippant, it’s sinister. Powell is diminishing the scale and gravity of the rape and trafficking of over 100,000 girls as if it were nothing more than an irritating noise. In her worldview, the gang rape of White working-class girls is a minor nuisance, an inconvenient topic to be dismissed, not a national scandal demanding action. Even more revealing is her invocation of “dog whistle.” In political language, a dog whistle is a coded phrase intended to signal something controversial or bigoted to a specific audience. It is used to dismiss someone’s argument without engaging with the facts, accusing them of racism without directly saying so. Powell was not just sidestepping the question, she was implying that merely raising this issue was itself an act of prejudice. This tactic is well-worn. For decades, Labour politicians have wielded the accusation of racism to deflect legitimate concerns about grooming gangs, protecting voting blocs from within their Muslim communities at the expense of voiceless victims. Powell’s words weren’t just dismissive. They were a signal, to her allies, to her party’s base: “We will protect you. We will smear your critics. We will bury the truth if it threatens our power.” Surely, Lucy Powell MP's position as Leader of the House of Commons is now untenable and Keir Starmer must sack her? Not a chance!!! Members of the Pakistani Rape Gangs are active members of the Labour Party. Heroin dealers and Islamists wear red rosettes. One is even a convicted kidnapper who tortured one of his victims by inserting a broomstick in his anus and filming the ordeal. A cop killer’s getaway driver openly campaigns for Labour politicians and threatens violence on those that oppose the Labour Party. Yet when it comes to this, including how a local Labour Party MP continues to openly support a convicted child rapist, Lucy Powell has nothing to say. We see you and your dog whistle Powell. And for those that have asked me, yes I will be campaigning alongside Pakistani rape gang survivors and their families in Denton and Gorton in support of Matt Goodwin. Justice is coming. ————- I need your help. My work is free. No paywalls. No gatekeeping. No exclusions. Because the truth shouldn’t belong only to those who can afford it. I’m Raja Miah MBE. For seven years, I led a campaign that exposed how senior Labour politicians helped protect Pakistani rape gangs and helped force a national inquiry. You won’t see me on the BBC. You won’t read my work in the legacy press. That’s not an accident. We’re up against a machine, politicians, police, officials, and media, working together to shrink, sanitise, and bury the truth. I document everything: - the evidence - the cover-ups - the intimidation - the fight for justice All of it lives in my newsletter. It’s 100% free to read. Let’s call this what it is. This is a national scandal built on silence, covered up by politicians who would rather let girls be raped than face uncomfortable truths. Let me say this plainly. This is not about hate. It is not about racism. It is not a small trumpet, a dog whistle or political point scoring. It is about truth. And for the survivors, and the girls still being preyed upon today, it’s a truth they’ve lived with while the rest of the country buried its head in the sand. Yes, it’s uncomfortable. Yes, it will create tension. But what’s worse - offending sensibilities or letting another generation of our children be abused because the institutions are too cowardly to speak? Staying quiet hasn’t protected anyone. It’s enabled thousands more to be targeted. It’s made truth a casualty. It’s made justice impossible. That’s why we won’t shut up. And that’s why we need your help to make it impossible for The Labour Party and the legacy media to shut this conversation down. So the next time someone accuses you of "blowing a small trumpet", “dog-whistling” or being a member of a "far right bandwagon", ask them this: Why are you so desperate to keep this truth hidden? Because the only people who benefit from silence are the ones doing the abusing and those that gain from the cover up of the gang rape and torture of our nation's children. _______ Many thanks to Sonia Poulton for allowing me the time this morning. The story here is not Lucy Powell MP attempting to apologise for her dismissive response to the cover up of the industrial scale gang rape of little White girls as a ‘dog whistle’. The real story here is how the would be Deputy Leader of The Labour Party is NOW acknowledging the cover up that has taken place and agreeing that those involved should be prosecuted. Of course, those involved in the cover up include both her colleagues Jim McMahon OBE MP and the Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. Now tell me this admission would have taken place if not for our campaign? ————- They silenced victims. They erased evidence. They persecuted whistleblowers, discredited survivors, buried official reports, and protected predators. They thought no one would fight back and that they had got away with what they did. They were wrong. I’m not Maggie Oliver. I’m not Tommy Robinson. I’m a political campaigner. My mission is clear: to expose the cover-up, explain the mechanics of corruption, educate the nation, and show people how to fight back. That’s why they tried to imprison me. They know how dangerous my voice is. This is why they spent 3 years fabricating evidence and trying to falsely prosecute me. And when they failed, the Labour Party tried and failed to sue me. Holding those responsible to account, including those who traded children for votes, won’t happen unless many more of you stand with me. Every day I can continue to campaign, more people learn the truth. I can’t do this alone. If my words have ever helped you make sense of a broken system, if they’ve ever made you feel seen, heard, or hopeful, please don’t scroll past. 🔴 Support the work. This fight is far from over. 👉 Just £3/month or £30/year. That’s 75p a week. Pennies to most -everything to help keep me going. 🔴 Prefer a one-off contribution? 👉 👉 This is the fight. This is the moment. There will not be another. - Raja 🙏
