The F-22 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofan engines. Each engine produces about 35,000 pounds of thrust with afterburner. Combined thrust: About 70,000 pounds. Now compare that to the aircraft’s weight. Typical combat weight: ≈ 64,000 pounds That means the Raptor has a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than 1:1.
