The UN mission is a failure though. The international community has failed to keep Hezbollah out of the area south of the Litani per UN resolutions. For many in the 06th Army Reserve Potential Officers course, it was a day they felt would never arrive! But it did, congrats to all on successful completion of training and on receiving your commissions! A proud day for all, the class were joined by family, friends and the public for the ceremony in the Defence Forces Training centre in the Curragh. Over the course of their training they have completed numerous military, tactical, physical and academic challenges as they trained to become the newest leaders of the Óglaigh na hÉireann. 8 soldiers of Svoboda Battalion of the 4th National Guard Rubizh Brigade defended a strongpoint near the village of Spirne near Siversk for 67 days - from July 10 to September 16. For the last three weeks, they fought in complete encirclement and fought off the last enemy assault when Russian assaultmen stormed their position and pelted their dugout with grenades. The commander of the position was a 25-year-old platoon leader, Senior Lieutenant Vladyslav Stotskyi. Volunteer soldiers from Svoboda Battalion fought alongside Vladyslav. All of them had no military experience before 2022. On September 16, a Russian assault team attacked the strongpoint with two tanks, two MT-LBs, and an infantry fighting vehicle, from which an entire assault platoon disembarked. Svoboda Warriors repelled the attack and destroyed the entire enemy assault team. Military correspondent Yurii Butusov recorded this interview with Vladyslav a day after he left the strongpoint on the orders of the command and led 6 soldiers out, so he is full of emotions. The body of his brother-in-arms Oleksandr Khomiak, who died a brave death in close combat with the Russians, could not be taken out of the encirclement. I highly recommend to watch this interview. It shows the incredible efforts and sacrifices Ukrainian soldiers are making to defend every meter of their homeland. Everyone needs to know this.

Russia has launched a major offensive on Avdiivka. One more defining battle of the war is underway. The video shows yet another attempt to move a large armored column of Russians from Krasnohorivka to cover the northern flank of the Avdiivka front. Approximately 20 units of equipment (tanks, IFVs, MT-LBs). Part of this column was destroyed, but the scale of the offensive is epic. Avdiivka is of strategic importance to Russia, as this city is actually the gateway to Donetsk, the main communication hub in the occupied territories. In order to establish a foothold in the occupied Donbas, Putin needs to move the front line away from Donetsk. In 2022, Russian troops launched an offensive against Avdiivka, trying to deeply encircle the city from both flanks. It was stopped due to heroic resistance of Ukrainians. The battle for Avdiivka will be more fierce than the battle for Vuhledar in winter. The presence of shielded buildings in Donetsk and Yasynuvata facilitates covert actions, deployment of artillery in residential areas, and hidden operations of armored vehicles. Russia has concentrated significant aviation forces that use high-precision weapons, a large number of shells that could be supplied by North Korea and Iran. Russians are trying to create a great advantage in drones. Russian drones, along with artillery, are being used to hit the front lines, and the enemy is trying to open the way for their infantry and tanks to break through the combat formations of our troops, primarily using a large number of high explosive munitions. The main attack is coming from the south of Avdiivka. Unlike the first offensive on Avdiivka, which lasted from July 2022 to March 2023, the current attack is planned to cover the city in a much shorter arc. However, the enemy is trying to avoid fighting in the urban areas and create a threat of encirclement for our troops in the city. The situation is very serious. Today I shared a powerful moment…so I had to record it. My young people honouring our war heroes through the legacy of the Māori Battalion. These young people have been raised under my leadership...carrying a purity, a strength, and a deep respect for God, country, and those who went before us. For those watching overseas...today is ANZAC Day here in New Zealand. A sacred day where we remember the men and women who served, fought, and gave their lives in WWI & WWII for our nation. This isn’t just a song...it’s the ANZAC spirit. A legacy of courage, sacrifice, and strength that still lives on in this generation. "Maori Battalion march to victory Maori Battalion staunch and true Maori Battalion march to glory Take the honour of the people with you We will march, march, march to the enemy And we'll fight right to the end For God! For King! And for Country! Au e! Ake, ake, kia kaha e!" Today, that honour was carried forward. Lest we forget.
