Rare that a single, isolated platoon would acquire such strategic significance. Rarer still to win a standoff with a squadron of main battle tanks. Respect to Callsign 6-52 for standing their ground & holding the Thin Blue Line. 128 Infantry Battalion UNIFIL UNIFIL Óglaigh na hÉireann

The UN mission is a failure though. The international community has failed to keep Hezbollah out of the area south of the Litani per UN resolutions. We can see the videos of their tunnel systems and weapon stockpiles. And we can see the missiles falling on Israel. And who knows where this war will now end up.

@irishpolbatt @UNIFIL_ @defenceforces @RTENewsPaulC @NiallJournal_ie @mickthehack @NationsIrish @PatKennyNT Won? If that's a win lad Id hate to have you in charge. The IDF machine went in cleared the area of terrorism that the UN couldn't do and then moved on.

Russia has launched a major offensive on Avdiivka. One more defining battle of the war is underway. The video shows yet another attempt to move a large armored column of Russians from Krasnohorivka to cover the northern flank of the Avdiivka front. Approximately 20 units of equipment (tanks, IFVs, MT-LBs). Part of this column was destroyed, but the scale of the offensive is epic. Avdiivka is of strategic importance to Russia, as this city is actually the gateway to Donetsk, the main communication hub in the occupied territories. In order to establish a foothold in the occupied Donbas, Putin needs to move the front line away from Donetsk. In 2022, Russian troops launched an offensive against Avdiivka, trying to deeply encircle the city from both flanks. It was stopped due to heroic resistance of Ukrainians. The battle for Avdiivka will be more fierce than the battle for Vuhledar in winter. The presence of shielded buildings in Donetsk and Yasynuvata facilitates covert actions, deployment of artillery in residential areas, and hidden operations of armored vehicles. Russia has concentrated significant aviation forces that use high-precision weapons, a large number of shells that could be supplied by North Korea and Iran. Russians are trying to create a great advantage in drones. Russian drones, along with artillery, are being used to hit the front lines, and the enemy is trying to open the way for their infantry and tanks to break through the combat formations of our troops, primarily using a large number of high explosive munitions. The main attack is coming from the south of Avdiivka. Unlike the first offensive on Avdiivka, which lasted from July 2022 to March 2023, the current attack is planned to cover the city in a much shorter arc. However, the enemy is trying to avoid fighting in the urban areas and create a threat of encirclement for our troops in the city. The situation is very serious. A very heavy battle has begun. ✒️: Ukrainian military journalist Yurii Butusov Бутусов ПЛЮС

On 09 September 25, the Defence Forces unveiled the new Óglaigh na hÉireann GAA jerseys in Croke Park. A symbol of our shared organisational values of community, teamwork, and pride. Defence Forces GAA President Major General Anthony McKenna was in attendance and said “I am delighted to be here today for the launch of the new Óglaigh na hÉireann Cumann Luthchleas Gael jerseys. The GAA and the Defence Forces share deeply rooted values of community, teamwork, and commitment, and we have always enjoyed a proud tradition of working closely together. These jerseys are a symbol not only of our partnership but also of the enduring spirit of service and pride that both organisations represent. I look forward to seeing them worn with the same dedication and passion that define both Óglaigh na hÉireann and Cumann Luthchleas Gael. Ag tacu agus ag eadroma ar gCluichi Naisiunta”. Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Jarlath Burns said: "I am delighted to officially welcome members of the Defence Forces to Croke Park today in recognition of the long relationship our organisations share and the Gaelic games competitions they organise for their members. The cast of players they have invited here today to help with the unveiling of new Defence Forces GAA jerseys underlines the calibre of players involved and the high regard in which our games are held. The presence of members of the Defence Forces on the biggest days in our calendar, through the involvement of the colour parties, reminds us of the long and enduring links with Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and I hope this is something that continues for many years to come." #IrishDefenceForces #DefendOurState

Jocko Willink says he broke a 30 second freeze on a 1990s SEAL training exercise by taking one 12 inch step, and it showed him the call four senior leaders could not see. "And by the way, I'm the youngest and most junior guy in my platoon, and I'm standing there looking down the sight of my weapon." "And I'm waiting for someone to make a call and tell us what to do." "And I wait for five seconds and I wait for 10 seconds and I wait for 20 seconds and no one's saying anything." "And we're waiting for a leader in my platoon to make a call to tell us what to do. Tell me what to do." "And finally, after like 30 seconds, which seems like an eternity, I can't take it anymore." "And so I take a step, like a... one foot step, 12 inches. I take a step off the skirmish line." "I look to my left. I look to my right. And what I see is every other guy in my platoon is staring down their weapon, staring down the sight of their weapon, which means their field of view is tiny." "It's like a 20 degree field of view." "There's my platoon commander... there's my platoon chief... there's my leading petty officer... there's my assistant platoon commander... so everyone in the platoon is looking down the sight of their weapon, which means they all have a very narrow field of vision." "Well, when I take a step back and look to my left and look to my right, guess what kind of field of vision I got? I got a massive one." "I can see the whole scene and I can see exactly what it is we need to do." Four experienced leaders were standing in that line looking at the same problem, and not one of them was short on skill or nerve. They were looking down the same narrow tube he was, and by his account the answer was sitting outside it the whole time. I think about that whenever I am stuck and certain the problem is that I do not know enough yet. Usually I know plenty. I have just been reading the same thread for twenty minutes, or turning the same argument over on the same walk, from the exact spot I was standing in when it started. Jocko was the most junior man on that line and he still saw it first, because he was the only one who moved. - Jocko Willink (Jocko Willink) on Huberman Lab (Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D.)
