There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, it already works. Strength training has transformed Steph Curry’s physique and game. He has talked about this many times. From confidence, to explosiveness, to resilience - it checks many boxes.

You might be confused by the endless novel and complex exercises that you see on social media. So let me remind you once again. I use split squats, goblet squats, calf raises, rows with high school, college, and professional athletes. You never outgrow it.

These lifts are the foundation of my program. Then we combine it with sprinting, explosive training, plyometrics, and conditioning. That’s it. There’s the program. Now with regards to strength training and flexibility…I like this quote from Mel Siff

“There is no real need to prescribe separate stretching exercises or sessions, since logically structured training should take every joint progressively through its full range of static and dynamic movement." (Mel Siff, Supertraining)

Here’s two recent studies ⁃“Resistance training through a full ROM was equally effective as SS for improving S&R flexibility, but improved hip- and lower back extensor strength more than SS and the CON.” ⁃“ST and stretching were not different in their effects on ROM.”

Don’t get me wrong, we still use dynamic stretching and mobility drills in warm ups, but I just want people to recognize that strength training helps flexibility, rather than hinder it.

Train intelligently

that's interesting, but what do you think of this?

Overall yes, but there was still some goofiness in that video

I’m just happy to see I’m not the only [former] hooper with bad ankle mobility. 😅
