Eisenhower said the same...taxing them makes the corporations more responsible. It encourages corporate growth through investments and better wages rather than corporate hoarding. Responsible economics.

All this is true but Reagan/GOP exploited racism to get middle-class whites to vote against their best interests.Look⬆️ Southern Strategy.White union workers voted for anti-union Reagan (2x) bc he convinced them it was poor poc who were taking advantage of them& not their bosses.

Add to this overturning Citizens United ruling because until that happens nothing will repair this country.

I was born at a time when the 'American Dream' was a tangible reality, exactly as described in this video. By the time I was old enough to join the workforce, everything had turned to shit thanks to Ronald Reagan, and it has stayed that way ever since.

We are already taxing the "rich". You need another plan.

Taxes were never above 42% effectively. If you give this government more money it will find new ways to waste and launder it. You might be a retard if you think government will fix anything. The government will simply spend more, go further into debt and cause major inflation.

What you don’t bring up is the highest effective tax rate was around 40%, even with the famous talking point 94% tax. It did nothing. You also don’t bring up that the median household income then was $2500, equal to $44k today. Median household income today? $83k. Almost double. We don’t need a 94% symbolic tax that doesn’t really make a dent in anything we need people to take personal responsibility. They don’t need tax dollars to make things affordable they need to stop buying g bullshit they don’t need. They make twice as much in today’s dollars. WTF will more tax do? It will get washed away in NGOs and spending that never benefits a single person here.

You are 100% dead on right! Our most popular president ever, elected 4X was actually a democratic socialist & more people went from lower to middle class without a degree & 1 income families purchased millions of homes. All while he created the many social programs you stated

@TruthIzThis Absolutely. Trump is just the logical end of Reagan. This is American conservatism. This is an entire culture that has to be destroyed.

Here's where she's ignorant on a few things. it wasn't a global economy. US companies involved in rebuilding Europe & Asia had no competition. Only the US $ wasn't in the toilet. US bonds ensured US had $. Taxation at those rates wouldn't work today- see Venezuela.

Wow! Squeezed a lot of nonsense into that. Take a pill. When Reagan lowered rates, the government received MORE tax revenue. Blows your whole argument.

Whenever fools attempt to tax the rich more than they will allow themselves to be taxed, the wealthy evaporate. People who have assets and no debt are better at living without taxable income than the fools who try to tax them exclusively.

Actually, the rich will really start complaining when more people are homeless and crime triples, quadruples and infrastructure falls apart...all because a few want the rest of us dirt poor peons.

The current system with a 37% top bracket garners about 8.1% of GDP. The 94% bracket in 1944-1945 garnered around 7.5% of GDP. But I know math and research is hard. Also, the US Government spends around $6.5T. In 1945 we spent around $93B and $89B was national defense.

Oh my God…is this historical illiterate a teacher? I don’t have enough characters to go into all the ways this is wrong, but let’s start with Reagan followed Jimmy Carter. Who presided over a period of Stagflation that made the Biden era look like boom times.

Taxing the rich to fund socialism is still socialism. People need to cash in on freedom instead of checking out on it. The more the government provides the more it controls. That’s what leads to socialism. That’s why Europe is being gobbled up by Islamists now. Could we raise the employer payroll tax by 4.5% to cut down the deficit? absolutely! I’m down for that but higher taxes to fund people handling freedom and access to credit irresponsibly and wanting a handout is just stupid. Then you get more people on socialism having more babies training all them to live off socialism until they outnumber the people who understand why it’s bad and who are willing to work.

If all the tax money wasn’t stolen by crooked politicians who literally vote to have our tax money stolen or squandered by their rich & elite friends and funneled into bullshit programs & foreign wars… People wouldn’t mind being taxed so much. Rich people see what their taxes go to and feel very ripped off. We’re all feeling ripped off.

Can you leftist Please explain something to us like we are all five year old kids? You tell us the rich, don't pay taxes. But then you say republican tax cuts favor the rich. If they don't pay taxes, how can they benefit from a tax cut?

The billionares build things that people want to spend their money on. What do you build that people want to spend their precious money on? That's what I thought. Stop whining. Stop trying to steal the legitimate wealth people have earned through their own efforts.

And the very wealthy left to china and other countries to avoid taxes. This is pretty simple, if you take a huge majority of someone’s money they will either leave or not innovate, and if you tried to take all my money I would do the same.

We could get away with that tax rate in the 50's because the rest of the world's industrial base had been destroyed in WW2 and we had little foreign competition.

Invest in your workers. Invest in society. Novel ideas that wealth hoarders of today have no clue about! They’re too intoxicated w/their own self-importance & the ignorant concept that they’re more valuable to society than educating the rest. More valuable than 1/2 the world.🫤
