People do not willingly behave themselves in any society. Go and ask Lee Kuan Yew, or read the experiment about monkeys, bananas, and a cold water hose. If Nigeria is to change, we need lots of law enforcement and jail cells; that'll condition people to behave right.

Governance needs enforcement and accountability. You cant try this rubbish in Dubai, because there are stiff penalties. Arrest continually and others will comply. Non-enforcement of the law breaks down social order.

Everything falls in the court of the government. The government is meant to enforce the law because if there are consequences for bad behavior citizens won’t do it

This is a gba take … even in London that is civilized, theirs a barricade on the main carriage way to avoid crossing

This is a very shortsighted take, Nigeria has one of the highest unemployment rates. Yet the government cannot employ more enforcers to check things like this, even more developed countries have these and higher enforcer to civilian ratio. Humans have minds of their own, they’ll always want to step out of line for some justified reasons, so before blaming them , we should first ask what the government has done and whether it’s enough… because it’s no news that we have a poor enforcer to citizen ratio, therefore the wide spread lawlessness… employ and recruit people to look after these infrastructures and see whether there won’t be a difference in behavior. It’s a chance to kill two birds with one stone

You expect people to use unsafe pedestrian bridges? Mr man you’re not in touch with reality.

Pure undiluted illiterate talk You guys that parrot this talk that the citizens are the problem in this hellish environment Are quite stupid and evil as fuck I don’t know if it is a paid job But yall are the worst

No. Real development happens with proper design and planning by government. You idiot.

We de always educate una say na responsibility of government to enforce laws. Do you think people in the UK don’t break traffic laws because they are “responsible” … government needs to enforce the law but oh their agencies are corrupt

It is NOT the responsibility to "match" the provision of basic amenities. Also, these is not a "government investment" but a basic responsibility of the government.

When citizens see that the government officials uphold the rule of law and not continually break the laws without any repercussions, they'll be forced to behave. You cannot have a ruling class that lives like laws don't exist and expect the masses to obey same laws..

It’s folly to expect a people to govern itself. Europeans do not behave properly because they decide to, they’ve done so because there are punishments on the side waiting for defaulting. Nigerians need its government to do thesame. Punish offenders and be indiscriminate about it

We underestimate just how much psychological conditioning proper primary education can do. Most of our attitudes towards public facilities can be fixed early in life..

Wen u have a high rate of illiteracy n thuggery in every nook and cranny then you need 2 invest in the people and educate them or else they won’t know the value of whatever development u are bringing to them. You build and all they see is avenue to make money thru vandalization

Go through the comments to see the point. Governments shape their citizens. Responsible governments create good citizens, and corrupt governments create corrupt citizens. Nations are built on laws and consequences, not on moral standards of the citizens.

It's not all about providing infrastructures, are there laws in place to enforce the proper use of those infrastructure? I have been on a Zebra crossing and had to run, a common infrastructure that's in place to avoid jaywalking and the police nearby couldn't enforce the law.

When will Nigerians understand that Nigeria's problem is a top-to-bottom issue, not the other way around? It's easy to blame Nigerians for unpatriotic behavior or hold them accountable in one way, shape, or form. What is hypocritical, even diabolical, is not holding the government accountable, when by every metric it bears the greatest responsibility for the ripple effects on the well-being and welfare of the people. What's even more embarrassing and disgusting is calling out the government in a generic way. If you want to call out bad governance, call out the names of the people holding office and stop being clever by half.

Rubbish talk ….. It starts from the Top Olodo with grammar

this one na mumu of Ogun state no go deliver your food. no chop from that food o

Humans are creature of habit. If you dont deter them firmly its going to be same old same old.

When an entire generation is used to crossing highways, you'd need to grow an extra mile to dissuade them. Gov Ambode began placing metal fences on these corridor to stop pedestrians from crossing on foot but the new govt tore them all down like they meant nothing. You can blame the people all you want but where there is no law there can't be any transgression. Nigeria is what it is because its govt is irresponsible.

This idiot

How much do you pay in taxes? A government that allows agberos to function with police backing is what you’re excusing? Guess you still don’t understand the connection between bad governance and your existence.

This is what and how every society was built. Constant correction and consequence always mold future behavior.

Because even if I’m an irresponsible citizen living in dubai, the moment I try this I’ll be fined. I no go repeat am again tomorrow. So other nationals aren’t angels, they just have laws that work. Look at the dirty bridge with no camera and thugs looting and stabbing ppl

you would think a responsible citizen culture to development in Singapore, happened over night with government just building flyovers and making laws. stupid ass dumb take. if we could govern ourselves without a governing system, why would we need constitutional enforcers?

Clown, does your govt behave responsible?

What is that disaster up there? Use what? Is that how it looks in a developing country?🤣 if you do things right you will spend less effort enforcing it on people.

Nonsense take

You need to get a koboko and whip those irresponsible lots

You guys will be looking for miserable ways to blame citizens for anything... The government is barely making any investment for Nigerians, yet tax Nigerians the most! This is 2026, shouldn't it be common sense that government invest in it's people and enforce the law?

Pedestrian bridge with thugs waiting for you 😭😭

Only animals break laws.

Keep believing this lie

🤦🤦 you can never see me crossing a high way without pedestrians bridge...
