I've always wanted to wander around, say, Pompeii in VR, recreated as realistically as possible. But that can be done without AI. Would be nice to have new environments generated on the fly, either in VR or AR. The best thing about AI is when it gives you something unexpected.

"Stop pushing this slop" It's way past the point now where it must be clear to everyone, that generative ai is here to stay AND that the quality will continue to increase. I've been talking about this trajectory for years now, and I've been working towards finding ways to combine the strength of these models, with the best of what I love about "old-school" creation. Building with my hands, moving a pencil across the paper and seeing shapes emerge, moving a building slightly to the right to get just that composition I had in mind. Being fully immersed in a scene I'm building in VR, being inspired by the immersion to take the story in a new direction. For years I've been talking about how powerful the combination of 3d and generative ai is, be it traditional 3d, SDF volumes in Dreams or Gaussian splats - with experiments around using V2V as a "render pass" or with experiments around realtime ai. Enough talk you might think, where's the proof? It's all around us these days honestly and here's a small test I did during some OOO. Blender MPC + Fable - a pretty powerful combination! With a bit of Google Omni Fast on top as a "render" pass. What do you think of where this is heading? Hopeful, disheartened, inspired or the opposite? Can you imagine working with tools like this in a way where we still retain the human "spark" and the creative nerve that makes each persons creation unique?

The danger of AI is not just the slop, but what we lose in the process. Michael Pollan explains: "We're moving into this time where we're gonna sub out writing to AI. And AI can write our papers, and professors are dealing with this everywhere now. But what is lost is a way of thinking. Writing does something to your brain. It gives you access to things you can't know just walking around or thinking or planning or outlining. If you were just transcribing what was in your head, it would be kind of onerous. But it really is what you learn in the course of a day spent writing, things you didn't know, ideas that you didn't expect. And that's the thrill of it."

✨ It's not even 2026 yet, but you can start using AI world models today! This is World Labs running inside my app 🏡 Interior AI letting you redesign your home with AI and then walk through it! It's really cool and of course not perfect especially since for now it's based on just one image, but multi-image will allow for more precise understanding of the room As always this is just the first version, and it'll get better from here World Labs is founded by Fei-Fei Li, a Computer Science professor from Stanford University, and other people like Justin Johnson, Christoph Lassner, and Ben Mildenhall "each a world-renowned technologist in computer vision and graphics" The tech essentially comes down to img2splat, search what a guassian splat is if you don't know It's in beta and wait list, but I'm trying to get this live for everyone as soon as possible as it seems like such an essential feature for interior design P.S. This is very true. AI integration is both hard and necessary for companies. And AI-native junior employees can drive this adoption. Earlier this year Aaron Levie explained with martin_casado on the a16z podcast how AI fluency is one of the most powerful skills a new grad can have. The real value comes from knowing how to make AI work inside an organization. Most companies, both large and small, are slow to adopt new technology. They need people who can explain what AI can do, show them how to use it, and help them move faster. If you are fluent in AI, you can be that person. You can walk into a company, spot the areas where AI can save time or create new opportunities, and make it happen. That is a wedge into your first job and a way to stand out from everyone else.

Classical 3D rendering is so cooked. In the future, every pixel will be generated, not rendered. But until then, you get generative AI nodes inside Nuke. The sky's the limit when you blend classical visual effects with generative ai. We’re on the brink of fully generative content—where creation becomes so abstracted that you can literally turn your mind inside out onto any canvas, from image to video to 3D. For now though, you get predictable curves and animation in the world’s greatest VFX tool — Nuke.
